Before I had my MacBook Pro and only worked with Windows computers, I was used to using the cut and paste function every day. I was even more surprised that this feature is somehow missing on the Mac. However, this shortcoming can be a thing of the past with moveAddict.
MoveAddict is a handy application from the developers of Kapeli, thanks to which you will be able to cut and then paste your files and folders on your Mac. At the same time, it does not modify the Finder or system folders in any way, so it is a regular application that you can uninstall at any time. You can extract files classically using the keyboard shortcut “command + x” and then insert them by pressing “command + v”.
When you remove a file, you will be notified by the sound you know from a Mac, for example when copying folders is complete. When inserting folders, the user will now see a dialog box about the move, the move can of course be stopped, as we are used to when copying.
moveAddict has been completely rewritten mainly due to user requests to make it faster and easier to use than before. The developers succeeded, the user now does not have to use a keyboard shortcut to remove the folder, but just click on the icons in the Finder toolbar or on the upper user panel.
MoveAddict can also merge folders, and when moving different files to a folder where there are already files with the same name, you can choose whether you want to overwrite them or keep the original ones. As a possible downside, I would see that the app is not free, but costs $7,99, which, on the other hand, is not a staggering amount. For those users who find only $7,99 too much, there is a free version that you can download here. However, you are limited to one transfer at a time, so you have to move files one at a time and not in bulk. If you are hesitant, you can watch the following video which will show you how to use the app.
I think that moveAddict will certainly be used by some users, whether they are fresh switchers or experienced Mac users. I have to say for myself that in the first days after switching from Windows to Mac OS X, I really noticeably missed this feature and I would definitely reach for moveAddict.
Thanks for the great tip, I've been on Mac for a few years now but I still miss this feature. 8 dollars is not a dizzying amount, but I don't want to pay that much for this little shortcoming of the operating system, I can probably get by with the free version. But who knows, it offers more than just ctrl+xa ctrl+vz Woken.
So bridge error - it requires Snow Leopard and I only have Leopard so it doesn't work. Damage.
somehow I didn't understand what the paid version has in addition?
It can also move multiple folders at once. The free version can only do one thing at a time, the paid version does not have this limitation.
I'll admit that it wasn't very clear to me from the article either, but I understood it right away on the manufacturer's website. You probably shouldn't write more folders (even if you do too), but more files. So, in short, marking 5 images and wanting to move them elsewhere is only possible in the paid version. In free you need to move one by one. The merging of folders didn't occur to me either, until I was hit with merge in the original. If you are copying more files somewhere and some are already there, you can either overwrite them or leave the original ones. Well, it doesn't work for me in Leopard anyway, so it's okay. :-/
Thanks for the comments, I tried to edit it, hopefully it will be clearer now. It's a shame with that Leopard.
So try the free FinderPop
It would be good to visibly show the link to the given aap you represent in the article. Thanks
The link is there, thanks to it I got to the manufacturer's page. If the link is hardly visible, then it might be nice to include it again and more visible at the end of the article.
