OS X Mountain Lion offers 35 great wallpapers in the basic menu that you can use. However, if you penetrate the inside of the system, you will find that Apple is hiding another 43 of them from us. That is, hidden is not the right word. Wallpapers are intended for screensavers, but why not use them in other ways?

Especially for the screen saver mode, Apple has prepared another 43 beautiful images with a resolution of 3200 × 2000 pixels with scenery from National Geographic, wild nature or space. These images are not normally available in the wallpaper menu, but it is not a problem to get them there.

Here's a simple tutorial:

  1. In the Finder, use the shortcut CMD+Shift+G to invoke the action Open the folder and paste the following path: /System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.Framework/Versions/A/Resources/Default Collections /
  2. You will see a window with four folders – 1-National Geographic, 2-Aerial, 3-Cosmos, 4-Nature Patterns.
  3. Move the images you find inside to any available folder and set them as your wallpaper.
