As Apple Pay expands further across Europe, the service is available to more and more users. In the Czech Republic, we can enjoy paying with an iPhone or Apple Watch from around mid-February. Soon our closest neighbors in Slovakia will also have the same privileges, which is now confirmed by the alternative bank Monese.

Monese is a mobile banking service that operates within the European Economic Area. Similar to Revolut, it has a number of advantages, but unlike the aforementioned fintech startup, it offers a functional account number that can be used by default. Users can also get a MasterCard debit card issued by Monese. And it is here that Slovaks and residents of twelve other countries will soon be able to add to Wallet and use it for payments via Apple Pay.

Monese announced the support of Apple's payment service for additional countries today on Twitter. In addition to Slovakia, where Apple Pay should be available in the near future, payment by iPhone or Apple Watch will also be available in Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Latvia, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Malta and Cyprus.

The plan to expand Apple Pay to as many European countries as possible was announced by Tim Cook a few months ago. By the end of the year, Apple would like to offer its payment service in more than 40 countries around the world. It seems that the Californian company will be able to achieve the set goal without any problems. In addition to those listed above, users in the Netherlands, Hungary, and Luxembourg should also be enjoying Apple Pay soon.
