Apple Pay has come a long way in Europe over the past six months. In addition to the Czech Republic, Apple's payment service also visited neighboring Poland, Austria, and recently Slovakia. Along with this, support from banks and other services has also expanded considerably. For example, Apple Pay started at the end of May support Revolution. Another player is now joining the ranks, as the alternative bank Monese also offers payment by iPhone in the Czech Republic.

Mones is known primarily to those who often operate with foreign currencies. It is a mobile banking service that operates within the European Economic Area. Similar to Revolut, it has a number of advantages, but unlike the mentioned fintech startup, it offers an account number that can be used by default. Along with the Monese account, users will also receive a MasterCard debit card, and it is now possible to use it for Apple Pay within Czech user accounts.

Monese has been offering its clients the option to pay with an iPhone or Apple Watch for several months. Recently, the bank significantly expanded the list of countries in which it supports the service. Then last week on Twitter announced, that the Apple payment service is now also provided to clients from Hungary and the Czech Republic.

The method of activation is of course the same as in the case of all other banking and non-banking services – just add the card in the Wallet application. It should be noted that the process needs to be completed separately on each device where you want to use Apple Pay.

How to set up Apple Pay on iPhone:

In the case of the Czech Republic, the support of Apple Pay by the banks is relatively good, especially if we take into account how small the market is. The service is already offered by seven different banks (Komerční banka, Česká spořitelna, J&T Banka, AirBank, mBank, Moneta and newly UniCredit Bank) and a total of three services (Twisto, Edenred, Revolut and now Monese).

By the end of the year, ČSOB, Raiffeisenbank, Fio banka and Equa bank should also offer Apple Pay.
