A feature that has been available to Android users since October last year has now finally arrived on Google Maps for iOS. Google doesn't have a special name for it, but he says on his blog about "pit stops". This indicates car service stops at car races, in this case unexpected changes to the route.

If the driver is currently using Google Map navigation and suddenly finds that he needs to fill up with fuel or visit the toilet, until now he had to leave the navigation, find the required location and initiate navigation to it. Then he had to start a new navigation, from a new location to the final destination.

The new version of the Google Maps application for iPhones and iPads offers, after clicking on the magnifying glass icon, to search for places such as gas stations, restaurants, shops and cafes during navigation, and the option to search for another destination manually (and by voice, which is very convenient when driving). It then integrates it into the already ongoing navigation.

When searching for destinations that the application offers automatically, each one displays the rating of other users, the distance and the estimated time of travel to it. The new function also works in the Czech Republic, and since Google has a rich database of points of interest such as gas stations, restaurants and others, it will certainly be useful to many drivers.

iPhone 6S owners will also appreciate that the new Google Maps support 3D Touch. You can call up navigation directly from the main screen, for example to home or to work.
