Among other things, the macOS operating system also includes the Mission Control function, which can make it easier, faster and more efficient to work with your Apple computer. In today's article, we will introduce you to five tips and tricks for even better control of Mission Control.

Setting up a shortcut for Mission Control

By default, the Control + Up Arrow keyboard shortcut is used to activate Mission Control. If you don't like this shortcut for any reason, you can easily change it. In the upper left corner of your Mac screen, click  menu -> System Preferences -> Mission Control. In the Keyboard shortcuts and mouse section, you just need to select the shortcut you want.

Adding a new desktop

Dividing your Mac workspace into several different surfaces is very practical. For example, you can have a web browser with specific pages running on one desktop, you can use another desktop to work in other websites, and you can have specific applications open on other desktops. If you want to add a new empty desktop, activate Mission Control first. You will see a bar with previews of currently available surfaces, to which you can add a new surface simply by clicking the "+" button on the right side of this bar.

Split View in Mission Control

Split View is a useful feature that allows you to work on your Mac in two windows of selected applications side by side. You can arrange applications in Split View mode directly in Mission Control. Launch Mission Control to preview available desktops at the top of your Mac's screen, and launch the apps you want in turn. Long press the preview of one of the apps you want to display in Split View and drag it to the selected desktop. Then long-click on the preview of the second application and drag it to the same desktop - you release the icon at the moment when the preview of the first application moves to the side.

Assign applications from the Dock to desktops

You can also quickly and easily assign apps whose icons are found in the Dock at the bottom of your Mac screen to specific desktops in Mission Control. How to do it? Activate the desktop to which you want to assign the selected application. Then right-click the icon of the given application in the Dock, select Options in the menu and select This desktop in the Assignment target section.

Quick previews of surfaces

In Mission Control view, if you click on the bar at the top of the screen on the selected surface, it will be activated. However, if you left-click the desktop preview on the bar while holding the Option (Alt) key, you will see an enlarged preview of this desktop without having to leave Mission Control mode.
