Anyone who has taken up photography with an iPhone is most likely familiar with this application. Mextures is currently one of the most popular photo editing apps on iOS. Review we already brought you last year, but a few days ago an update to version 2.0 appeared in the App Store. And it brings rather interesting news.

Mextures continues to work on the same principle as before, namely by adding textures to the photo. Textures (glow, light penetration, grain, emulsion, grunge, landscape enhancement and vintage) can be layered and achieved in original combinations. Everything is described in detail in the first review, so I would rather start with the new functionalities.

In the second version, several textures were added and I have to admit that they really worked. Personally, I "run through" most of the photos I want to edit in Mextures. Not that I want to overpay them, on the contrary. Mextures can nicely color the light and thus change the atmosphere of the entire photo. This is why I welcome more textures. I then save my favorite combinations in formulas so I don't have to apply them over and over again.

And the next change in Mextures concerns the formulas. As always, you can choose from your own formulas or from preset formulas. However, you can now share your formulas with other users. The application will generate a unique seven-digit code for you, which anyone can enter in Mextures and thus import your formula. You can also import other people's formulas.

Mextures also became a more comprehensive photo editor with the update. Added options for adjusting exposure, contrast, saturation, temperature, tint, fade, sharpness, shadows and highlights. The photo can also be completely bleached. Also added to these edits are 25 brand new movies if you want filters. I admit that I have not yet developed a taste for them and I continue to remain faithful VSCO Cam.

And that's all. The Mextures application in version 2.0 was really successful and I can't help but recommend it to all fans of mobile photography. However, it requires patience in the beginning, before you learn how to handle the possibilities of overlaying layers (so-called blending modes). The effort expended will then be richly repaid in beautiful modifications. And it's up to you whether you use Mextures for radical adjustments or just for light coloring of the light.
