It's literally been years of misery for iPad owners; but this week they finally got it. Tapbots released the long-awaited new version of their popular Twitter client Tweetbot, which for the first time is a universal application and thus finally in a modern form for the iPad. Several novelties also came to iPhones.

Since the Tapbots development team consists of only a few individuals, users are already used to waiting a long time for some updates for popular applications. However, the new Tweetbot for iPad has been waiting for a really long time. The last time the tablet version was updated was last summer, but it never received a visual transformation that corresponded with the style already deployed in iOS 7.

Until now, Tweetbot 4 brings the interface known only from iPhones to the large display of the iPad. The fourth version also supports iOS 9 including multitasking and brings several improvements. At the same time, this is a completely new application that needs to be purchased again.

New in Tweetbot 4 is that for the first time the application can also be used when the device is rotated. You can read tweets in landscape mode alongside the iPad also on the iPhone 6/6S Plus, giving you two side-by-side "windows" with the content of your choice. On the left, you can follow the timeline and on the right, for example, mentions (@mentions).

Or you can monitor your statistics in real time, which Tweetbot 4 newly displays. In the tab Activity you can see who followed you, wrote to you or retweeted your post. Stats in turn, they bring a graph with your activity and an overview of the number of stars, retweets and followers.

Tweetbot 4 is fully ready for iOS 9. On the iPad, you can take full advantage of the new multitasking options and reply to tweets directly from the notification bar on all devices, which in previous versions of iOS was the exclusive option of Apple applications. Fans of "dampening" filters will also get their money's worth, the new Tweetbot offers even wider options for their settings.

There were also several visual changes. That is, on the iPad to the essentials, when the user finally has a modern design like on the iPhone, but the profile cards, the window for creating tweets have also been redesigned, and the fourth Tweetbot also supports the new San Francisco system font. At the same time, Tapbots promises many improvements under the hood that will make the app even faster and more reliable. The (optional) automatic switching to night mode is nice.

The developers have not yet had time to react to the new iPhone 6S, so 3D Touch support, for example for quickly creating tweets, is still missing, but it is already announced that implementation is being worked on.

Tweetbot 4 can be downloaded from the App Store as a universal application for an introductory price of 5 euros. It will later grow to ten, however, Tapbots plans to offer the new version at half price to current Tweetbot 3 owners. If you're a fan of Tweetbot, you've probably already bought the "four" without blinking an eye. If not, you may have noticed it at least in the App Store, where it occupied the first place a few hours after its introduction (even in the United States), and if you are interested in one of the best Twitter clients for iOS, then you should definitely consider Tweetbot 4.
