Whether you've fallen for the apple cult, or you're just shaking your head at this brand, Apple is simply an icon. Why is it? What is so unique about a company with a bitten apple logo?

We often hear that Apple technology is changing the world and that it is Apple that sets the trends in IT. However, how did it actually deserve that reputation, when it had neither the first, nor the best, nor the most powerful device and, especially at the beginning of its existence, it aimed primarily at a select group of users, i.e. professionals?

Just a few years ago, when you said you had a tablet, everyone automatically assumed it was an iPad. When you mentioned that you work in graphics, everyone kind of expected that you owned an Apple desktop computer. And if you were a journalist and said you had a black-and-white laptop, it was somehow always assumed to be one of the first MacBooks. However, nothing like that is true today, and to be honest, especially in the latest models, Apple devices are definitely not among the most powerful, and in terms of price-performance ratio, Apple has never been among the most perfect. Even so, his products have become a kind of synonym for modern and functional equipment.

Apple is an icon. He became an icon not only thanks to Forrest Gump and his shares in "some fruit company", but very soon he became an icon thanks to expensive and functional devices, even though his computers did not generally offer anything new even at the time of their creation. The first Apple desktop computers were even black and white, back when there were color alternatives, and yet even in the black and white era, thanks to sophisticated software products, Apple became synonymous with the workstation of every serious graphic designer.

The Cupertino company always came to that iconic label somewhat by accident, and as if by chance. Steve Jobs was considered a visionary, but in reality he was afraid of many ideas. This was a person who, without scruples, was able to promote only his ideal idea of the device and was willing to fight for it with anyone who did not like it. Although his equipment was nice at first glance, it stood out against the competition more by the fact that it started to be used en masse. Steve himself was then afraid of ideas, some of which were really nonsensical, such as some hardware devices that turned out to be total flops, and which we will inform you about from time to time in special articles on our server. In addition to curiosities, he was also afraid of sophisticated ideas. It's no secret that he was an opponent of large tablets, for example, and even the concept of a smart watch didn't quite suit him. He envisioned his company's facilities in one particular way and was unwilling and unable to make any compromises. But he was definitely a visionary and also, although not only thanks to him, anything with a bitten apple really became synonymous with modern devices.

The apple has always been synonymous with progress. It also became a symbol of our alleged beginning, when Eve tasted an apple from the forbidden tree. True, according to the Bible, we lost paradise, but on the other hand, we gained a planet that we can systematically destroy from then on. An apple also fell on poor Newton under the tree. If a window had fallen on him, everything could have been different in the computer world. However, the apple fell on him, and perhaps that is why he is a bigger symbol of information technology than Windows.

But seriously again for a moment. One of the reasons why the apple has become synonymous with a functional environment and functional devices in the last ten years is that Apple products not only focused on design and performance, but also on services. What Microsoft has understood only recently and Apple's ecosystem is still catching up with, it must be said that Apple has been doing for quite some time, somewhat desperately, and unfortunately still unsuccessfully. True, even Apple itself had to come up with some things later, so connecting its world and applications was the first, but since then it hasn't been at the fastest pace. Nevertheless, when you compare the ecosystems of the three largest platforms such as Windows, Android and devices from Apple, since it is not possible to clearly distinguish where macOS ends and iOS begins, most people agree that everything is simply better with Apple. It's a lot about intuition.

If you need a really functional device with a functional service, you definitely don't buy a phone with mobile versions of Windows for your company. Even the last attempt at Windows 10 in a mobile version did not go well, and Microsoft itself recently admitted that the road does not lead here and therefore slowed down the development of mobile versions of Windows. For Apple, the only competitor at the level of connecting services is Google with its Android, and especially its ecosystem of applications. Google is in second place, but thanks to the huge number of different services and applications, it can achieve better results. Yet it falls short of them, precisely because Android itself is a fairly fragmented platform, which thankfully never happened to Apple.

Of course, even the apple platform has its flies. It definitely applies to Apple devices that if they are not connected to the Internet, they can only be used with limitations. While an Android mobile phone can be used quite comfortably without the Internet and you are not too limited in what features it will provide you with, this is simply not the case with Apple devices. Since the first versions of its mobile devices, the Apple company has focused mainly on the cloud environment, even if the word cloud was not yet used, and it has bet that users will want to use an ecosystem of connected services and data. For several years now, you can start working on one device and continue on the other. Now I don't mean the direct connection that happened on the iOS mobile platform only with the arrival of the last generations, but that the products for the desktop and mobile versions of apple machines are quite compatible. This is also thought of by the authors of applications, which Apple itself forces quite intensively to do so.

So we have an apple device, which may not be the fastest or perhaps even the best, but it offers a connected system of services, and above all active use of the cloud, so the user does not need to worry about where his data is stored and on which device we work with this data. This was achieved not only with the manufacturer's own applications, but also with applications from third-party developers, which is another huge advantage that both competing mobile platforms can only dream about for the time being.
