Apple offers a relatively sophisticated Magic Keyboard for its computers, which has gained countless fans over the years of its existence. Although it is a comfortable accessory, it still lacks in some respects, and apple fans themselves would appreciate it if the apple company presented itself with some interesting improvement. Of course, we already saw that last year. At the presentation of the 24″ iMac (2021), Apple showed the new Magic Keyboard, which was expanded with a Touch ID fingerprint reader. What other characteristics could the giant be inspired by, for example, from its competition?

As we hinted above, while the keyboard is popular with its target audience, it still offers plenty of room for improvement. Manufacturers like Logitech or Satechi, who also focus on the development and production of keyboards for Apple Mac computers, show us this very well. So let's take a look at the mentioned features, which would definitely be worth it.

Potential changes for Magic Keyboard

The Magic Keyboard is extremely close in design to the Slim X3 model from Satechi, which practically copied the design of the Apple keyboard. Although these are extremely similar models, Satechi has a considerable advantage in one respect, which is confirmed by the apple growers themselves. The Apple Magic Keyboard sadly lacks backlighting. Although most people today can type without looking at the keyboard, this is an extremely beneficial feature when typing special characters, especially in the evening. Another possible change could be the connector. Apple's keyboard still uses Lightning, while Apple switched to USB-C for Macs. Logically, it would therefore make more sense if we could charge the Magic Keyboard with the same cable as, for example, our MacBook.

The MX Keys Mini (Mac) from Logitech continues to be quite popular among Apple users, but it is already significantly different from the Magic Keyboard. This model has shaped keys (Perfect Stroke) directly adapted to our fingers, which the brand promises significantly more pleasant typing. Some users of Apple computers commented on this quite positively, but on the other hand, it would be a relatively significant change that might not be perceived positively. On the other hand, a radical design change, along with the arrival of new features, could work quite well in the final.

Will we see changes?

Although the mentioned changes definitely sound rather promising, we should not count on their implementation. Well, at least for now. At the moment, there are no known speculations or leaks that Apple would consider modifying its Magic Keyboard for Mac in any way. Even last year's improved version with Touch ID is not equipped with a backlight. On the other hand, it must be recognized that with the advent of backlighting, battery life could be drastically reduced. The MX Keys Mini keyboard offers a lifespan of up to 5 months. But as soon as you start using the backlight non-stop, it will be reduced to only 10 days.
