macOS application of the day: HandBrake for simple but effective video conversion

Every day, in this column, we will bring you a more detailed look at a selected application that has just caught our attention. Here you will find applications for productivity, creativity, utilities, but also games. It won't always be the hottest news, our goal is primarily to highlight apps that we think are worth paying attention to. Today we will take a closer look at the HandBrake application for converting and managing video files.

The HandBrake application is great for all users who from time to time need to convert a video file from one format to another on their Mac. The application is clear and offers a surprising number of useful functions, works reliably and is easy to use.

In addition to converting files within the system, HandBrake can also handle burning and creating DVDs. You can basically work with the application in two ways - either you simply enter the input and output format and quickly convert the given file, or you play more with the output.

The transmission options offered by HandBrake are really wide. It allows resizing or cropping the image, adding an alternative audio track, custom subtitles, adding effects, changing codecs and much more. A useful bonus is the possibility of batch conversion of files with the possibility of monitoring the conversion progress. In the preferences, you can then set the default way in which HandBrake will work on your Mac in detail.

HandBrake is an excellent application for both beginners and advanced users. It is completely free and does a great job not only when converting a video file from one format to another, but it will also be appreciated by those who like to play with the output format settings.
