Every day, in this column, we will bring you a more detailed look at a selected application that has just caught our attention. Here you will find applications for productivity, creativity, utilities, but also games. It won't always be the hottest news, our goal is primarily to highlight apps that we think are worth paying attention to. Today we're going to introduce you to the Franz app for Mac.

Finding a desktop messenger app that meets several important requirements can be surprisingly difficult. Some programs do not support all necessary types of communication platforms, while others exist only in a version for a specific operating system. A pleasant bright exception in this direction is Franz - a desktop messenger with support for a huge number of services and accounts, compatible not only with macOS, but also with Windows and Linux distributions.

Franz supports almost every kind of service you can think of, from Messenger, Hangouts and WhatsApp to LinkedIn, Slack or even good old ICQ. Setting up and activating the services is not difficult - just log in with your username and password, in the case of WhatsApp, use your phone to scan the QR code that appears on the screen. Franz offers a wide range of customization options, both in terms of appearance (Dark Mode option) and services provided. Basically it is completely free, for a fee of 4 Euros per month you get a version without ads, with proxy support and a handful of other bonuses. But it certainly cannot be said that the basic free version is so significantly cut down that it prevents its normal use.

It is important to note that Franz is – very simply put – a form of web browser that uses cookies and cache. As such, the application does not store or "read" your messages in any way.
