From time to time, on the website of Jablíčkára, we present to you either an application that Apple offers on the main page of its App Store, or an application that simply caught our attention for any reason. Today we tested the Countdowns app for setting countdowns.

None of us miss events such as birthdays in our lives - be it ourselves, our friends or family members, various anniversaries, name days, but also vacations or our favorite holidays. While some are content with a notification in the calendar or reminders for these events, others would like to be able to track how many months, days, or even hours and minutes are actually left until the given event. There are a number of third-party "subtraction" apps in both the iOS and macOS App stores for these purposes. One of them is Countdowns, which we decided to try for the purposes of our article today. Countdowns is a cross-platform app, so it syncs all the countdowns you set up across all your devices.

In addition to countdowns as such, the Countdowns application offers well-designed widgets for all compatible operating systems, the option of choosing preferred units, or perhaps the option of setting whether the time should be counted down to or from the date you set. Of course, there is also support for the system-wide dark mode, the ability to set recurring countdowns, which is great for events such as birthdays or various anniversaries. Countdowns also offers the ability to import selected events from the native Calendar on your Mac.

You can use the Countdowns app either in the basic free version or pay extra for Premium. As part of the premium version, you get the already mentioned option of synchronization via iCloud, automatic sorting by date, the ability to create lists, advanced display options and other benefits. The premium version of the Countdowns app will cost you 29 crowns per month, 229 crowns per year, or a one-time cost of 499 crowns for a lifetime license.
