A few weeks ago, Apple introduced brand new operating systems – namely iOS and iPadOS 16, macOS 13 Ventura, and watchOS 9. All of these new operating systems are currently available in beta versions for all testers and developers, but they still often install them ordinary users, as they are impatient and want to have early access to new features. However, such users must of course expect various bugs and other problems that are common in beta versions. Some of these errors have to be put up with and wait for Apple to fix, but some can also be temporarily resolved.

macOS 13: How to fix broken copy

One of the main bugs that manifests itself in macOS 13 Ventura is copying not working. This simply means that you copy some content, but then it is not possible to paste it in a new location. This error is caused by the copy box being stuck, which subsequently stops working and cannot be used. Anyway, the solution is simple - just force kill the copybox process, which will restart it. The procedure is as follows:

  • First, you need to open the app on your Mac running macOS 13 Ventura Activity monitor.
    • You can start the activity monitor through Spotlight or just open the folder Utility Applications.
  • Once you have done so, switch to the section in the menu at the top of the window CPU.
  • Here, in the upper right, click to text box, where to write pboard.
  • You will then see a single process board, who tap to mark.
  • After marking, press at the top of the window X icon in a hexagon.
  • A small dialog box will appear, in which finally click on Force termination.

Using the above procedure, it is therefore possible to terminate the pboard process that takes care of the copybox functionality on a Mac with macOS 13 Ventura. As soon as you terminate it, the aforementioned process will start again and start working as it should. Immediately after that, it is possible to start using copy and paste again. Sometimes the solution mentioned above lasts for several days, other times it is necessary to repeat it, so expect that.
