Currently, the Apple company presented the latest operating systems in the form of iOS and iPadOS 15, macOS 12 Monterey, watchOS 8 and tvOS 15 already this summer, specifically at the WWDC developer conference. At this conference, Apple presents new major versions of its systems every year. For now, all the mentioned systems are only available as part of beta versions, but the good news is that this situation should change before long. Autumn is approaching, during which, in addition to new devices from Apple, we will also see the release of public versions of operating systems. In our magazine, since the release of the first beta version, we have been focusing on the new functions that the mentioned systems come with. In this article, we will look at another feature from macOS 12 Monterey.

macOS 12: How to view all saved passwords

As you probably know, Apple devices can take care of creating and storing all your passwords. If you log in to an account, the data will be automatically entered into the Keychain. The next time you log in, you can simply authenticate yourself, for example using Touch ID or Face ID, which means that you do not have to write down passwords. But from time to time you may find yourself in a situation where you simply need to see the password, for example for sharing. In this case, on an iPhone or iPad, just go to Settings -> Passwords, where you will find yourself in a simple interface for managing passwords. On the Mac, it was necessary to open the Keychain app, which works similarly but can be complicated for some users. Apple decided to change it, so in macOS 12 Monterey, it hastened with a similar simple display of passwords as in iOS or iPadOS, which everyone will appreciate. All passwords can now be displayed as follows:

  • First, on your Mac running macOS 12 Monterey, you need to tap on the top left of the icon .
  • Once you do so, select an option from the menu that appears System Preferences…
  • This will open a new window that contains all the sections for managing system preferences.
  • Within this window, locate and click on the section with the name Passwords.
  • Subsequently, authorize either by using Touch ID, or by entering user password.
  • After authorization, you will see a list of all saved passwords.
  • Then you are in the left menu find the account, for which you want to display the password, and click on him.
  • In the end, you just have to swipe the cursor over the password, which will display its form.

So, using the above method, you can display all saved passwords in macOS 12 Monterey, easily and quickly. In addition to being able to view passwords, after tapping the share icon in the top right, you can simply share them via AirDrop with users who are in the vicinity, which is certainly a better procedure than dictating or rewriting. If any of your passwords appeared on the list of leaked passwords, you can find out thanks to the exclamation marks on the single entries. Passwords can then be easily changed or modified.
