Apple products are interconnected like no other. Thus, while the Apple Watch serves as an extended hand of the iPhone, the user can also use it to automatically unlock the Mac. And it is precisely the second mentioned functionality that Apple wants to greatly expand in the upcoming macOS 10.15.

Currently, the Apple Watch's connection with Apple computers is only at a basic level. Specifically, Macs can be automatically unlocked using the watch (if the user is close enough to the computer and the watch is unlocked) or it is possible to authorize Apple Pay payments on models without Touch ID.

However, sources familiar with the development of the new macOS state that it will be possible to approve far more processes through the Apple Watch in the new version of the system. The specific list is not known, however, according to the assumptions, it will be possible to authorize on the Apple Watch all operations that can now be confirmed on the Mac with Touch ID - automatic data filling, access to passwords in Safari, view password-protected notes, selected settings in System Preferences and, above all, access to a range of applications from the Mac App Store.

However, in the case of the actions described above, automatic confirmation should not occur. As with Apple Pay, you will likely need to double-click the side button on the Apple Watch to authorize a payment, which is how Apple wants to maintain some level of security for the feature to avoid automatic (unwanted) approval.

The new macOS 10.15, including all the new features, will be shown for the first time on June 3 at WWDC 2019. Its beta version will then be available to developers and later also to testers from the public. For all users, the system debuts in the fall - at least that's how it is every year.
