With the upcoming WWDC 2019 developer conference to take place at the beginning of June, more and more information is surfacing about the upcoming iOS 13 and macOS 10.15. Although the system for iPhones and iPads is usually rich in news, this year, according to available indications, macOS should also bring a number of new functions. In addition to several applications from iOS, the Screen Time function should not be missing on Macs, the design of which in desktop form is now shown by the designer Jacob grozian.

According to sources familiar with the development of macOS 10.15, which Apple has reportedly been working on for two years, Screen Time on the Mac will offer essentially the same functionality as it currently does on the iPhone and iPad. Function settings are also available directly in System Preferences, and sections such as Limits for applications and Idle time should not be missing either. Parents will then be able to limit the time their children use specific applications or deny access to certain websites.

And the aforementioned function also includes the concept of the American designer Jacob Grozian, who designed the form of Screen Time in the version for macOS. The only difference is that Grozian demonstrates the feature as a standalone app in his proposal. However, the resulting form should be the same in many respects - in addition to the classic settings of the function, we also have graphs and statistics about the time spent in individual applications and on the computer as a whole.

macOS 10.15 will bring a lot of news

However, Screen Time will not be the only feature/app that macOS 10.15 will bring. Thanks to the Marzipan framework, which can be used to easily convert iOS applications to the macOS version, Apple will also offer other applications known from iPhones and iPads on Macs. There will be, for example, Siri Shortcuts, Music and Podcasts application or even the possibility to set a minute minder, alarm or ask a question about air quality through Siri.

Certain changes should also be made to Apple ID management and Family Sharing settings. Effects for iMessage will then be added to the Messages app, the same ones that are now available on iOS. In addition, it is expected closer connection between Apple Watch and Mac, when using the watch the user approves far more operations in the system than before (for example, access to passwords and third-party applications).

Overall, macOS with the new version 10.15 should come closer to iOS and take over several functions and applications from its mobile sibling. The introduction of the system is expected on June 3. From the same day, its test version will be available for developers. macOS 10.15 should be available to the general public in the fall.
