Michal Ždanský Apple updated its MacBook Pro lineup today, much like it did with the u MacBook Air in February this year. Apple's top line of laptops got faster Haswell processors, more RAM in the base, and there was also a price cut. It also made the MacBook Pro model without Retina display cheaper, but the only change was in the price, the laptop still has an outdated processor and Apple will probably cancel it completely soon.
The updated MacBook Pro with Retina display now has a faster Intel Hasswell processor in every configuration, by 200 Mhz, for the 13-inch model you will find a dual-core i5 with a frequency of 2,6 and 2,8 Ghz, for the version with a fifteen-inch display, a quad-core i7 with frequencies of 2,2 and 2,5 Ghz. There was also an increase in operating memory. All 8-inch models have 16 GB of RAM as a base, and XNUMX-inch models even have XNUMX GB of RAM. In practice, this means that the basic model has received twice the amount of memory for each diagonal.
Finally, the higher 13-inch version of the MacBook Pro with Retina display and the MacBook Pro 100" without Retina display are $1 cheaper, which in Czech prices was more likely to increase. While the MacBook without Retina display became cheaper by CZK 500, the MacBook Pro 15″ with Retina display became more expensive, and not by a little. It currently costs CZK 67 on the Apple Online Store, which is two thousand crowns more expensive than yesterday. The basic 990-inch model even became more expensive by CZK 15, while the price of this model did not change at all in the USA. We can thank for this, among other things, the current exchange rate of the euro against the koruna.
Unfortunately, even the 1-inch models were not spared an increase in price, they are CZK 500 more expensive, even CZK 2 in the case of the highest configuration. So if you are planning to buy one of the MacBooks and want to save a few thousand, you can still buy it from some of the Czech APRs, who still have the old prices. However, you will have to wish for today's upgrade.
I wonder if MacBooks will be covered at the keynote since they've already updated them all…
That probably depends on the availability of Broadwell.
It looks like if Broadwell doesn't come out, there won't be a Macbook Pro upgrade this year, it would be weird if they only let them sell for 2,5 months until the next keynote. Other parameters and design will probably not change, I would expect another upgrade – maybe a bigger one – until next year and only the expected 12-inch one at the keynote.
I think the last significant change was in the 2013 model when it was made thinner. Now I think that MBP will not undergo any significant changes for a few years.
Otherwise, if I'm not mistaken, they updated only for, so Airy might get some changes (Perhaps Retina).

I wonder how it is with the lifespan of MacBooks.. with other manufacturers nowadays it is a "trend" for laptops to last 2-3 years (not in terms of performance, but because the components wear out). How about Apple? Will it last me 5 years? :-) Thanks.
I dare say it will last just fine. I have a Macbook at home that is over 7 years old and it is still in use without any problems, only once the optical drive went out (which I didn't even miss in the end and today there is no need to deal with it anymore) and after a few years the battery died. The second Macbook is 3 years old, problems occurred only from the beginning (solved by complaint), but otherwise I believe that it will serve for several more years. I also have other machines from other manufacturers, but they are practically to be thrown away.
We have a 2009 late MBpro in the company and it is still in use. Only the mechanics were sent (in 2009, the mechanics went well), the battery lasts for about two hours (the life is at 50%) and the Audio jack is stupid - if there are no headphones in it, then you think that the optics are connected, it does not play in the speaker, the repair would cost approx. 800,-. Are they consumable items that could potentially be replaced.
Otherwise, it's working so far, it's being worked on very well (a graphic designer has it) and it's at a great level.
So I have a 2009 mini at home and it's the same - even if the mechanics are not working, it runs great.
From my experience, the lifespan of a macbook is perfect, and I always emphasize this to clients when I complain about how expensive it is, that I'd rather buy a laptop that will last than a new plastic one every two years for 15kKc.
I had a macbook pro 2009, after three years of daily use, I sold it and the lady put it on continues to work without any problems, the battery even lasts 4 hours (compared to the original 7), but it can be easily replaced.
I recently had a macbook 2007 from a client (it's not for, but the first aluminum unibody) which is 7 years old! I replaced the disk with an ssd, added RAM to 8GB and a new battery, installed Maverick (the latest system) from Apple for free, and the macbook is like new and works great.
I have a Pro 08′, I changed the HD to an SSD and I still can't find an excuse for a new model... Maybe I just miss the retina and the lightness... The machine is immortal and software runs like clockwork.
I have a MacbookPro late 2009 and I added 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. Plus, after five years, I'll be changing the battery, which won't last more than five hours, but only about an hour. There would be some kind of scratch, I don't have a cover and I don't clean it, it's still traveling. If I don't drop it on the ground, fall off the roof with it, or get struck by lightning, it will probably be immortal :-D I guess so... and I don't have any reasons for buying a new one either, just little things...
I have the exact same model and I did the exact same upgrade and I can't track. My battery life is around 75% and it lasts 3 shots per battery. The only thing that went bad was the HD and that after 3,5 years, but at least I had a reason to buy an SSD :)
