Although I informed you a few days ago that the Macbook Pro cannot use both graphics at the same time in the so-called Geforce Boost, I was wrong, as were other servers. Editor from the server Gizmodo he spoke with a nvidia representative and we finally have a clear picture of how it all works.

The Nvidia chipset in the Macbook Pro can handle graphics switching on the fly and can use both graphics at the same time. But the Macbook Pro can't do any of that yet. However, the hardware as such has no special limitations, so it's all up to Apple how they deal with it and when they make these functions available, be it with new firmware, system updates or drivers. On the other hand, this is exactly what I fear. Apple could also use the 8600GT graphics in the previous model for hardware acceleration of video playback, but we haven't seen that yet. This is only possible with the new Macbook Pro with 9600GT.

So to summarize, the hardware of the new Macbok Pro can use Hybrid Power (switching graphics on the fly according to usage) and Geforce Boost (using both graphics at the same time), but this is currently not possible. Let's just hope it's a matter of weeks and Apple releases some sort of update. And not to forget, the new chipset can handle up to 8GB of RAM!
