As previously expected, Apple prepared a number of great changes for this model, the most popular Mac ever, and enriched it with a completely new design. In this regard, the Cupertino giant benefits from the main benefits of the Air models and thus moves it several levels forward.
The design of the MacBook Air M2 will take your breath away
After years of waiting, we finally got a new unibody design for the popular MacBook Pro. So the iconic taper is gone for good. Even so, the laptop retains its wonderful slimness (only 11,3 millimeters), and it is also enriched with higher durability. Following the example of the 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro (2021), Apple has also now bet on a cut-out in the display, which has its own merits and Apple fans will like it very quickly. Thanks to the combination of a cutout and smaller frames around the display, the MacBook Air received a 13,6″ Liquid Retina screen. It brings a brightness of 500 nits and supports up to a billion colors. Finally, we can find a better webcam in the cutout. Apple has been criticized for years for using a 720p camera, which today is already severely inadequate and its quality is rather sad. However, the Air has now upgraded to 1080p resolution. As for the battery life, it reaches up to 18 hours during video playback.
The return of the legendary MagSafe 3 connector for charging attracted a lot of attention. This is because it attaches magnetically and is therefore safer and much easier to use. Thanks to this, the MacBook Air M2 received another major innovation – support for fast charging.
The MacBook Air will also significantly improve in the area of performance, where it benefits from the newly introduced M2 chip. Compared to the previous generation, it is even more powerful and economical, thanks to which it easily outperforms competing processors in other laptops. With the arrival of the M2 chip, the maximum size of the unified memory also increases from the previous 16 GB to up to 24 GB. But let's also shed some light on the other parameters that are quite essential for chips. The M2, which is based on a 5nm manufacturing process, will specifically offer an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. Compared to the M1, the M2 chip will offer an 18% faster processor, a 35% faster GPU and a 40% faster Neural Engine. We definitely have something to look forward to!
As for the price, it is necessary to expect that it will increase slightly. While the 2020 MacBook Air, which is powered by the M1 chip, started at $999, the new MacBook Air M2 will start at $1199.
