Today marks exactly five years since the last Mac Pro update. The last model, sometimes nicknamed the "trash can", was born on December 19, 2013. You can get its six-core variant with dual graphics in the Czech Apple online store for 96 crowns.

When there was a discussion about the Mac Pro last year, Apple's Craig Federighi admitted that the Mac Pro in its current design has limited thermal capabilities, due to which it may not always meet all demands. The truth is that when the last version of the Mac Pro saw the light of day, it was equipped in such a way that the workflows of the time made reasonable demands on the hardware - but times have changed.

But after five years, it finally looks like the seemingly endless wait for a new, better Mac Pro might be over. During last year's discussion about this model, the head of marketing Phill Schiller admitted that Apple is completely rethinking its Mac Pro and is going to work on a new, high-end version, which should be designed for demanding professional users.

According to Schiller, the new Mac Pro should take the form of a modular system, complete with a full-fledged successor to the popular Thunderbolt display. Although we won't see a new Mac Pro in the coming months, the end of next year is already more realistic - one of the first mentions indicating that an update will finally happen is found in a press release from December 2017.

The modular Mac Pro concept from Curved.de magazine:

Apple is certainly not in the habit of announcing products whose production has most likely not even started properly yet. In this case, he most likely did so mainly because of the growing concerns of users that the Cupertino company somehow resented its professional customers. Phil Schiller even apologized for the pauses in upgrades to users, and promised to fix it in the form of something really amazing. "The Mac is at the core of what Apple offers, even for professionals," he said.

But apart from the release date of the new Mac Pro, its modularity is also an interesting topic for debate. In this regard, Apple could theoretically return to the older classic design from 2006 to 2012, when the computer case could be easily opened for further modifications. We can only hope that we will see the details already at WWDC 2019.
