After the end of today's keynote, Apple called the journalists again to show them the newly introduced news, which included the long-awaited new generation Mac mini. At first glance, you can recognize it basically only thanks to the Space Gray color, which replaced the classic silver aluminum that Apple used for all its computers when the previous Mac mini was released. However, the most interesting thing happened on the other side, i.e. on the back of the computer itself and also inside. That's why Apple started the video for the new Mac mini with a look into its guts.
Journalists who were able to see the Mac mini with their own eyes praise the fact that while Apple offers four Thunderbolt 3 ports, it does not limit users of classic USB and offers them a pair of USB 3.1 Type-A ports. In other words, basically the fastest that we can currently - and probably in the future - see with classic USB Type-A. In addition, everyone also praises HDMI 2.0 in combination with a 3,5 mm jack connector and an Ethernet port expandable up to 10 Gb.
You will also be pleased with wireless communication, which is provided by currently the fastest standards such as Wi-Fi 802.11ac or Bluetooth 5.0, which, by the way, is a newer standard than the one Apple used for the MacBook Air presented today, which only has Bluetooth version 4.2. What pleased the journalists was the possibility to replace the user's operating memory, which is no longer possible with any other Apple computer these days.
In the end, it's the little things that give the new Mac its charm. According to journalists, even the base price of $799 (CZK 23) for the base model is quite acceptable, especially when compared to the new MacBook Air, which starts at $990 (CZK 1200). The new Mac mini could thus be a relatively good ticket to the world of macOS without major compromises.
20k for 32GB RAM, haha. Well, it's not even funny to double the price of the same components. Especially when you can replace it yourself.
For me, definitely a plus for the replaceable memory. I really didn't expect that. Personally, I would go up to 8GB. For a 128GB system. And the rest via an external drive. If the RAM is not enough, I will replace it later. On Alza, it will be a mouthful compared to Apple. I'm currently using Late 2012. 16GB Ram, ssd disk and good to go. The computer lasted 6 years and still worked well. The new mini will definitely last just as long.
