As soon as Apple stopped using Intel processors for its Macs and instead switched to its own solution called Apple Silicon, it quickly moved several steps forward. Apple computers of the new generation have higher performance, while in terms of energy consumption they are even more economical. It is therefore not surprising that, according to a number of users, the giant went straight into the black. Apple users have taken a liking to the new Macs very quickly, which is clearly demonstrated by all sorts of things surveys. The computer market was struggling with a year-on-year decline, which affected practically every manufacturer - except for Apple. He was the only one to record a year-on-year increase in the given period.

It has been 2 years since the introduction of the very first Macs with Apple Silicon. The MacBook Air, 13″ MacBook Pro and Mac mini, which Apple revealed at the beginning of November 2020 with the brand new M1 chipset, were the first to be introduced to the world. Since then we have seen a number of other devices. This was followed by a revised 24″ iMac (2021) with M1, a revised 14″ / 16″ MacBook Pro (2021) with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, and the giant rounded it all off in March 2022 with the presentation of a brand new desktop Mac Studio with M1 Ultra chip and the highest performance ever from the Apple Silicon family. At the same time, the first generation of Apple chips was closed, anyway today we also have the basic M2, which is available in MacBook Air (2022) and 13″ MacBook Pro. Unfortunately, the Mac mini is a bit forgotten, even though it has huge potential and could take on the role of the ultimate device for work, for example.

Mac mini with professional chip

As we indicated above, although so-called entry-level Macs such as the MacBook Air or the 13″ MacBook Pro have already seen the implementation of the M2 chip, the Mac mini is out of luck for now. The latter is still sold in the 2020 version (with the M1 chip). It is also a paradox that the last Mac (if we do not count the Mac Pro from 2019) with an Intel processor is still being sold alongside it. This is a so-called "high-end" Mac mini with a 6-core Intel Core i5 processor. But Apple is missing a great opportunity here. The Mac mini in general is the perfect gateway to the world of Apple computers. This is because it is the cheapest Mac ever – the basic model starts at CZK 21 – to which you just need to connect a mouse, keyboard and monitor and you are practically done.

Therefore, it would definitely not hurt if the Cupertino giant replaced the aforementioned "high-end" model with an Intel processor with something more modern. The best option in such a case is the implementation of the basic professional Apple M1 Pro chipset, which would provide users with the opportunity to acquire a professional Mac with unrivaled performance at a reasonable price. The aforementioned M1 Pro chip is already a year old, and its later implementation would no longer make sense. On the other hand, there is talk of the arrival of a new MacBook Pro series with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. This is the opportunity.

The ideal solution for companies

A Mac mini with an M2 Pro chip could be the perfect solution for businesses that need plenty of power. They could save a lot on such a device. As we mentioned above, the huge advantage of this model is that it is available at a relatively favorable price. It is therefore a question of what future Apple plans for its Mac mini.
