Introducing a product half a year before it goes on sale isn't necessarily a problem, although we're not quite used to it at Apple. However, we have the first generation of the Vision line before us, so it can be forgiven. What's worse is the fact that the device became obsolete before it hit the market.

He is supposed to redefine the wearables segment and quite possibly he will succeed. But we can no longer say that the Vision Pro is a technological peak, because the present technology has its successors. It all starts with the chip used. Apple talked a lot about the M23 chip at WWDC2, but in the fall it showed us what the M3 chip can do. The strange thing is that Apple had to have everything lined up, so it simply knew that it would introduce a new and more powerful chip in the fall, and even then it only gave the Vision Pro an M2.

However, other technologies are linked to this decision. This is, for example, Wi-Fi 6. So let's not count on Wi-Fi 6E here, because this variant only debuted with M3 chips. The fact that the Vision Pro will not contain Ultra Wideband technology is also based on the FCC certification. While of course the company's first headset will be integrated with the Find network, the exact search will not work with it, and the question is why there is no UWB chip when the AirTag also has one and fits in iPhones.

Should Apple have waited?

So the question arises whether Apple should have waited until the fall of 2023 and not introduce the Vision Pro with the M3 chip. The answer is not too complicated: He couldn't. Not only did he need to show the world his progress and his revolutionary solution, when considerable pressure was put on him in this regard, but he had to show developers what they could create content for and give them the right tools to do so. That six months was intended to ensure that the appropriate tools were already available for the new device, which we hope they will be.

The Vision Pro is therefore supposed to pave the way for its successors. With them, a similar advance notification will no longer be necessary, because the operating system will be trampled, the application store will be loaded with titles, and the functions will be properly debugged. It will be more interesting to see how often Apple will update the line and whether it will add any solutions without the Pro moniker. After all, if the first product wasn't a Pro right away, a lot could be forgiven.
