Some time ago it was announced that the Czech website Lunchtime.cz and its Slovak counterpart Obedvat.sk will take over a billion dollar Indian startup Zomato. He is expanding in a big way and paid 65 million crowns to the owners for these two websites. Today, the August acquisition took full effect and both sites are already redirecting their users directly to the site Zomato.com. The original Lunchtime app also stopped working.

Luchtime has operated since 2008 as a search engine for restaurants offering lunch menus. Thanks to this service, a person could easily and quickly find out what the current lunch offer is in his area. The service subsisted on advertising from restaurants that paid monthly fees to publish their lunch menus.

Now the entire database has been taken over by Zomato, whose web environment here looks practically the same as in the other 17 markets where Indians now operate. Zomato is supposed to be a kind of Facebook for restaurants, with an emphasis on reviewing individual businesses and uploading informative photos by the users themselves.

Although Zomata's philosophy differs from that of the original Lunchtime, existing clients of the Czech website can remain calm. This is because they have the option of smoothly switching to Zomato. Head of Zomata for the Czech and Slovak market, Peter Švec, to this he said for iHNED the following: “Indians really liked our original business, where clients create content for us and pay for it. Not only will they keep it with us, but they will also introduce this function under the name Zomato for Business in other markets where they operate."

Lunchtime's acquisition also includes its team, which has grown to 25 people after the acquisition. One of his main tasks was to create the conditions for the transformation of the original Lunchtime into Zomato. This involved going around restaurants and creating their profiles. And the effort was certainly not in vain.

The team managed to expand the original database from 2991 paying clients to more than eight thousand restaurant profiles in the Czech Republic. In addition, as part of the expansion of the service, Zomato in Prague is to strengthen and increase the number of employees to 70 over the next year.

If you are interested in the service, you can download the official Zomato application for free on your iPhone, which is now enriched with all the data of the original Lunchtime.cz and Obedovat.sk services.
