Traveling on public transport in London is now easier than ever for iPhone and Apple Watch owners. Apple has launched the Apple Pay Express Transit service in the English capital, which enables almost instantaneous payment of transport without unnecessary delay.

From today Apple Pay Express Transit is available on all public transport in London, both overland and underground. iPhone and Apple Watch owners will now be able to use a super-fast way to pay for tickets, which only takes a fraction of a second. At loading terminals, all you have to do is attach an iPhone or Apple Watch and if the devices are set up correctly, the ticket will be paid automatically without the need to authorize Apple Pay payment.

This feature first appeared in iOS 12.3, now it's getting live. Apple devoted the whole of the novelty section on the website, where everything is explained and illustrated. To use the Express Transit function, all you need is a working payment card and a compatible iPhone/Apple Watch. In the wallet settings, you need to choose which card will be used for this use and that's it.

Now all you have to do is hold your iPhone/Apple Watch to the terminals and the ticket will be paid automatically. There is no need to authorize payments via FaceID/TouchID, another big advantage is that the payment function works even five hours after the phone/watch has run out of power. Even with a dead iPhone, Londoners can pay for a subway ticket. If the iPhone is lost, the function can be deactivated remotely. The feature works on iPhone 6s and later models.
