According to the available information, it seems quite realistic that Apple will introduce the Find My Mac function in the new OS X Lion, which would be able to find your lost Mac over the Internet using a Wi-Fi location. A similar function is currently performed by the complex software MacKeeper, but it is charged.

However, new speculations also indicate that this service should be expanded to include the function of erasing the entire disk remotely, even without anyone having to be logged in to the Mac. This service would certainly be welcome, as no one is likely to be interested in disclosing their private documents to an unwanted person.

We will find out whether this information is true in a few days at WWDC 2011.
