In today's installment of our series on Apple personalities, we take a brief look at Tony Fadell's career. Tony Fadell is known to Apple fans primarily because of his contribution to the development and production of the iPod.

Tony Fadell was born Anthony Michael Fadell on March 22, 1969, to a Lebanese father and a Polish mother. He attended Grosse Pointe South High School in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, then graduated from the University of Michigan in 1991 with a degree in computer engineering. Even during his studies at the university, Tony Fadell held the role of director of the Constructive Instruments company, from whose workshop emerged, for example, the mutlmedia software for children MediaText.

After graduating from college in 1992, Fadell joined General Magic, where he worked his way up to the position of systems architect over the course of three years. After working at Philips, Tony Fadell finally landed at Apple in February 2001, where he was tasked with collaborating on the design of the iPod and planning the relevant strategy. Steve Jobs liked Fadell's idea of ​​a portable music player and related online music store, and in April 2001, Fadell was put in charge of the iPod team. The respective division did really well during Fadell's tenure, and Fadell was promoted to vice president of iPod engineering a few years later. In March 2006, he replaced Jon Rubistein as senior vice president of the iPod division. Tony Fadell left the ranks of Apple employees in the fall of 2008, co-founded Nest Labs in May 2010, and also worked at Google for a time. Fadell currently works at Future Shape.
