One of the well-known and prominent personalities of Apple until relatively recently was Angela Ahrendts - the former senior vice president for retail and also one of the highest paid executives at Apple for a time. In today's article, we will briefly summarize her journey to the Cupertino company and her career in it.

Angela Ahrendts was born on June 7, 1960, the third of six children in New Palestine, Indiana. She graduated from New Palestine High School and received a degree in business and marketing from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana in 1981. But she didn't stay true to Indiana - she moved to New York, where she started working in the fashion industry. For example, she worked for the fashion brands Donna Karan, Henri Bendel, Liz Claiborne or even Burberry.

In October 2013, Angela Ahrendts announced that she would be leaving Burberry in the spring of 2014 to join Apple's executive team as senior vice president of retail and online sales. This position was originally held by John Browett, but he left it in October 2012. Angela Ahrendts took his place on May 1, 2014. During her tenure, Angela Ahrendts introduced a number of innovations and changes, such as the redesign of Apple Stores or the introduction of Today at Apple programs, within the framework of which store visitors could attend various workshops or cultural performances. She was also instrumental in reducing sales of third-party accessories or partially replacing Genius Bars with Genius Grove.

Although the work at Apple was in many ways diametrically different from what Angela did during her time at Burberry, her work was evaluated mostly very positively by colleagues and management. In his letter to employees, Tim Cook even described Angela as a "beloved and outstanding leader" who played a major transformational role in the retail industry. Angela Ahrendts is married to Gregg Couch, whom she met in elementary school. They have three children together, Couche gave up his career years ago to become a stay-at-home dad. In February 2019, Apple announced that Angela Ahrendts would be leaving, to be replaced by Dierdre O'Brien.
