Apple officially announced earlier this week that John Ternus is joining the position of Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering. This happened following the reassignment of the previous SVP for hardware engineering, Dan Riccio, to another division. In today's article, in connection with this personnel change, we will bring you a brief portrait of Ternus.

There is not much information available on the Internet about the childhood and youth of John Ternus. John Ternus graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Before joining Apple, Ternus worked in one of the engineering positions at the company Virtual Research System, he joined Apple's employees as early as 2001. He originally worked there in the team responsible for product design - he worked there for twelve years before he was in 2013, transferred to the position of vice president of hardware engineering.

In this position, Ternus oversaw, among other things, the hardware side of the development of a number of important Apple products, such as each generation and model of the iPad, the latest product line of iPhones or the wireless AirPods. But Ternus was also a key leader in the process of transitioning Macs to Apple Silicon chips. In his new role, Ternus will report directly to Tim Cook and lead teams responsible for the hardware side of development for Macs, iPhones, iPads, Apple TV, HomePod, AirPods and Apple Watch.
