The weekend is coming unstoppably – we'll sleep in once more, run to work, and immediately after that we'll be able to enjoy two days off again. But before that, don't forget to read our traditional IT summary, which we prepare for you every weekday. Today we will take a look at how LG broke its recent promise, we will also inform you about the newly introduced Philips Hue products and in the last news we will talk more about the new NVMe SSD drive from G-Technology, which comes with very interesting and new technology. No time to waste, let's get straight to the point.

LG broke its promise. Older televisions from this company will not receive either AirPlay 2 or HomeKit

If you're one of those people who have an LG TV at home, you may have noticed the news a few weeks ago in which LG announced plans to add AirPlay 2018 and HomeKit support to 2 TVs. The addition of support for these "older" televisions was supposed to happen already this year. Unfortunately, users will not be able to wait, as LG has simply broken this promise and simply has no plans to integrate AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support into its 2018 TVs. The televisions that were to receive support came from the SK and UK model series in the case of LCD models, and from OLED, the models with B8 to Z8 in their name. Information about the delivery of the aforementioned support recently disappeared from LG's website, and it should be noted that the company has not yet officially commented on this decision.

For the first time ever, information about the breach of this promise appeared on Twitter, where LG decided to answer a user's question about a week ago about AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support for LG TVs from 2018. In its tweet, LG states that it currently does not have plans to add AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support to said TVs. This, of course, angered countless owners of the mentioned TVs from LG, who were of course already looking forward to the addition of support. We must not forget the petition with 22 signatures, in which the users of the mentioned televisions asked for the delivery of support - it already seemed that LG had recovered. This is how it looks like the life cycle of one LG TV before it stops receiving updates is not even two years, which is a very short time. Let's see if LG will comment on this breach of promise. However, I honestly don't think we will see any positive news. In order to use AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, users will have to buy a new TV, but this time not from LG, or they will have to buy an Apple TV.

Philips Hue has received new products

Smart is really everywhere these days. Smart phones first appeared in the world, then smart TVs, and most recently, for example, elements for a smart home. The best-known manufacturer of these products for smart homes is undoubtedly Philips with its Hue product line. Philips was one of the first companies to come up with basic smart home products, such as various light bulbs, etc. Today, the Hue product line is very expanded and the latest expansion was just today when the new LED light strips were introduced, the updated version Hue Iris lamps, new smart bulbs with white light and other products. The mentioned LED strip is intended for integration with the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box, which connects Hue lights to televisions, consoles and monitors, so that it can emit light into the surroundings according to the content of the television and thus "magnify" the image. A revolutionary new NVMe SSD from G-Technology is coming

Most of you are probably hearing the name G-Technology for the first time today. However, the truth is that behind this company stands Western Digital, a well-known disk manufacturer, which is certainly known to many more people. Today we saw the introduction of a brand new NVMe external SSD drive from G-Technology, which has a capacity of 2 TB and features a newly introduced technology called ArmorLock. This technology is used for special and very secure data encryption. Specifically, ArmorLock technology was created with the finance, government, civil administration, healthcare, media, IT and legal professions in mind – all of these industries are risky in their own way and data encryption is an absolute must.

This new external SSD drive can be locked or unlocked using the ArmorLock app, which you can download to your iPhone or Mac. The drive remains locked until you connect it to your iPhone or Mac and unlock it using Touch ID, Face ID or a code lock. The writing and reading speed of this SSD drive is almost 1 GB/s, and this is done through the 10 GB/s USB port. In addition, the drive has an IP67 certification - it is therefore resistant to dust, water and, in addition, to falls. It should be noted that ArmorLock technology is only available for iOS and macOS. In the locked state, the data is encrypted with 256-bit AES-XTS hardware encryption, in addition, various tools are also available, thanks to which the disk can be instantly formatted and data deleted. The next thing we know is that it will be possible to track this drive using GPS on an iPhone or Mac. The price tag is set at $599, which is about 13 crowns.
