Apple HomeKit is constantly expanding, and the latest addition to the list of products supporting this platform is the Yeelight smart bulbs as of yesterday. These are characterized above all by their low price, ranging at most in the order of hundreds of crowns. But it also offers the advantage that no hubs are needed to control them and the bulb is able to connect directly to a Wi-Fi network.

The good news is that existing Yeelight bulbs that have been on sale for some time are also getting HomeKit support. All you have to do is update the firmware via the app on your phone and then you can start controlling the light bulb via HomeKit or the Home app.

Yeelight bulb firmware update to get HomeKit support:

Specifically, three Yeelight products - a pair of bulbs and an Aurora LED strip - received HomeKit backward support. So if you own one of them, just go to the settings and update the firmware to the latest version. Coincidentally, in the editorial office we own a colored LED bulb, which received platform support from Apple after the update to version 2.0.6_0051.

Yeelight products that newly support HomeKit:

  • Yeelight Smart LED Bulb (Color)
  • Yeelight Smart LED Bulb (Tunable White)
  • Yeelight Aurora Lightstrip Plus

Yeelight released on its official website contribution, where he briefly informs about the added HomeKit support. In addition to listing the products, she says that her team has been working on the implementation of the framework for approximately eight months, and the result is a simple update through the paired application. Subsequently, all you have to do is follow the attached video instructions and start controlling the bulbs via HomeKit. Of course, it is also possible to set the intensity, colors and other preferences through Siri.
