Today, Apple released a press release detailing information about this year's iTunes Festival. It has been held in London so far, but this year it will head to home soil for the first time. The iTunes Festival will be part of the SXSW (South by Southwest) group of music and film festivals, which have been held annually in Austin, the capital of Texas, since 1987.

The festival will take place over five days from March 11 to 15 during Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater. Apple refers to these five days as Five Amazing Nights with Five Amazing Shows. And it's no wonder, as the main actors will be Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Pitbull, Keith Urban and ZEDD. Additional performers and groups will be announced later. You can find the detailed program at www.itunes.com/festival.

"The iTunes Festival in London was a unique way to share Apple's passion for music with our customers," said Eddie Cue, Vice President of Applications and Internet Services. "We're excited about the upcoming lineup of artists, and that's why we think SXSW is the right place to host the first iTunes Festival in the US."

Official iTunes Festival app it will be updated in the foreseeable future (or a completely new application will be released) and, just like last year, you will be able to watch a live stream in HD resolution through it. The stream will also be available in iTunes, so whether you have an iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Mac or even Windows, you'll never be short.

Last year's statistics from London are worth remembering. Over 2013 artists performed at the 400 iTunes Festival, with more than 430 people attending their performances. Over 10 million users then watched the stream from the comfort of their homes.
