Apple has been experimenting a lot with the names of the new iPhones lately. It seems that this time they will unite the names of their products for good. The successor to the iPhone Max will be called the iPhone Pro.

It is still far from clear whether it will be the iPhone 11 or the iPhone XI. But what we already know for sure is that there won't be an iPhone Max this year. You buy an iPhone Pro instead. Or iPhone 11 For or another numerical variant.

The CoinX Twitter account released the information to the world. He has a very good reputation. Although he tweets very sparingly, his information is always 100%. To this day, it is not known who is behind this account or where its sources come from.

On the contrary, we know that, for example, last year he accurately predicted the names of iPhone XS, XS Max and XR. Back then, basically no one believed such a claim, but we soon became convinced of the truth of the information from CoinX. Similarly, he revealed, for example, the absence of a headphone jack in iPad Pro 2018 and many others. So he still has a clean slate.

Is Apple inspired by iPads or Macs?

If we accept CoinX's claim that we'll see an iPhone Pro this year, then we're left to guess what the other models will be called. Apple seems to have taken inspiration from the rest of its portfolio. Even there we find several different formulas.

Tablets start with the common name iPad. The middle segment is occupied by the iPad Air, and the professional class consists of the iPad Pro. MacBooks recently lost their representative without a nickname, i.e. the 12" MacBook. Now we can only find MacBook Air and MacBook Pro in the portfolio. As for desktop computers, we have the iMac and the iMac Pro. The Mac Pro stands alone just like the Mac mini.

In theory, it is possible that Apple will go for clean names without numbers this year. Then the new model line could have clean names like iPhone, iPhone Pro, and iPhone R. While iPhone and iPhone Pro certainly sound good, iPhone R is an odd name to say the least. On the other hand, the iPhone XS Max or iPhone XR already sounded strange. We'll see if Apple will surprise us with the naming of a cheaper model.
