For games in the roguelite genre, randomness is a key element to keep the gameplay interesting for dozens and hundreds of playthroughs. The best of the best, such as the card Slay the Spire or the frenetic Hades, can use this potential to the fullest. Thanks to random paths and decisions, no one pass is the same as the last. However, developer Terry Cavanagh's Dicey Dungeons builds its entire combat system around the concept of randomness. So can such a game even offer something to strategically thinking players.

The short answer, of course, is a resounding yes. Otherwise, we wouldn't even delay introducing the game as part of the ongoing Steam Summer Sale. Dicey Dungeons puts you in the role of living dice competing in a strange reality show where your task is to overcome all the traps that the sinister host has prepared for you. You then defeat enemies in turn-based battles, during which you roll dice. With these, you activate your abilities, which, of course, always require a specific value on the dice, or a combination of them.

The key to success is minimizing the role of chance. You achieve this by cleverly combining individual special abilities that you can purchase during each show. In addition to the role of unkind chance, you also have to take into account various unique characteristics of enemies. Some of them can poison your dice or turn your lucky six into a one. Dicey Dungeons then start to surprise even after the first successful conquests. The game offers several playable professions, each offering a really big change in the way you play.
