Editing photos on an iOS device is fun compared to a heavy Photoshop routine. The apps are simpler and with little effort you can get even more out of your already great photos. One of the applications that has found a place in my iPhone is Lens Flare. As its name suggests, it is used to add light effects, sun effects or reflections. And that simply within a few moments.

Rather than just a brief description of the application, here I will present the procedure of how I edited the seemingly quite ordinary photos from my iPhone 5. I emphasize this again, because I usually do all photo editing somewhere on the fly and only occasionally in the warmth of my home.

Photo #1

Before I get into LensFlare, I'd rather give a complete photo editing procedure, so that there's no mistake that LensFlare handles all the editing. Since they're always on Instagram, the first edit is a square crop. On the left you see the original cropped photo, on the right you see the edited version using VSCO Cam. A G1 filter was used.

As the sun was shining brightly that morning and the haze added to this impression, I needed an effect that would bring out the contrast between the light and the shadows even more. The menu offers a choice between anamorphic and spherical effects. From the second group, I used the Solar Zenith effect, which suited the given moment in the photo absolutely perfectly.

I modified this effect slightly. Under the button Edit the color and brightness of the light can be changed as needed. In advanced editing, you can change the size of the effect, its flattening, the size of the light source and the visibility of artifacts (glares). In addition to these adjustments, it is of course possible to move and rotate as desired. My Solar Zenith effect settings and the resulting photo #1 are below this paragraph.

Photo #2

The procedure is almost identical to the previous photo. Cropping and editing was done in VSCO Cam, but this time the S2 filter was used. I chose Solar Inviticus from the group of spherical effects. At first glance, he did not add significant changes to the photo, but that was the intention. Of course you can add a crazy purple effect, that's up to you. I prefer subtle changes in natural colors.

other functions

LensFlare offers more. You must have noticed the button in the previous screenshots Layers. Up to five layers, i.e. five different effects, can be added to each photo. You can combine them at will and change the original photo beyond recognition. LensFlare also includes sixteen filters and I have to admit that some of them are interesting, for example Sci-Fi or Futuristic. A third of the other functions close the textures. Sixteen of these are also available.

The application is universal, so it can be fully used on iPhones and iPads. For BrainFeverMedia. AlienSky can add planets, moon or stars to the sky in addition to lighting effects. LensLight combines LensFlare and Alien Sky and adds other interesting effects.
