Ever since the introduction of the iPhone X in 2017, one and the same thing has been discussed among Apple fans - the return of Touch ID. Users called for the return of the fingerprint reader by the "dozens" immediately after the aforementioned revelation, but then their pleas gently died down. Anyway, they resounded again with the advent of the pandemic, when Face ID technology proved to be not so practical. Since people's faces are covered with a mask or respirator, it is of course not possible to scan the face and thus verify whether it is really the user in question. That could change very soon anyway.
This is what the iPhone 13 Pro will look like (yield):
According to the latest information from renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, which was obtained by the foreign portal MacRumors, Apple is preparing interesting changes for us. In his latest report to investors, he focused on the iPhone 14 (2022) generation, which should again bring four models. However, since the mini model is not doing so well in sales, it will be cancelled. Instead, there will be two phones with 6,1″ and two more with a 6,7″ display, which will be divided into basic and more advanced. More advanced (and at the same time more expensive) variants should offer a fingerprint reader integrated under the display. At the same time, these Apple phones should bring improvements to the camera, when, for example, the wide-angle lens will offer 48 MP (instead of the current 12 MP).
The return of Touch ID would undoubtedly make many Apple users extremely happy. However, there are also opinions as to whether it will not be too late for a similar gadget. The whole world is currently being vaccinated against the disease COVID-19 with the vision of ending the pandemic and therefore throwing away the masks. How do you perceive this situation? Do you think Touch ID under the display still makes sense, or will Face ID suffice?
How is the 14 going to have Touch ID?!? If it's not in the iPhone already this year, it's really enough...!
I don't want to wait another year with IP 8...
And have you ever tried Face ID?
No never. I'm not saying that I would never want it, but only in combination with Touch ID... it just makes more sense to me, especially at this time.
I really don't need a print at all and I wouldn't want one anymore. It's just a matter of habit and if someone gets used to FACE ID, it's hard to understand why they would want a fingerprint again. Having both would probably be nice, but I wouldn't use it anyway.
The way I use my iPhone, TiD just suits me better. I often unlock the iPhone already when taking out the pocket with a fart on TiD. FiD is a step back for me.
I didn't allow Touch ID, I owned an iPhone 6 (5 years old), then an iPhone 7, and now I have a new iPhone 11. The only disadvantage for me is that you can't pay with a mask or log in to the Bank via FaceID when you need to transfer money. Otherwise, unlocking via AppleWatch is a good replacement for FaceID when you have that stupid mask on your face. Compared to Touch ID, it's faster in everything. I hated FaceID before, but today I'm happy for it, especially when it comes to logging in to various websites, it's faster than TouchID and even when paying with Apple Pay. Otherwise, yes, instead of the iPhone, due to masks, I solve the payment via Apple Watch, also the possibility of quick payment and replacement of Touch ID for me 😇
Well, since I have a sealed camera on my phone at work, when I unlock the phone, I press the same button and in addition masks. So Face ID doesn't make much sense to me.
I switched from SE1 to 12mini and FiD is hell. It has a problem at night, with a mask, without glasses. Paying is seriously tedious. I don't unlock the phone when taking it out of my pocket, next to me on the table, etc. I really hope TiD really comes back. I believe that if it could be combined, it would be great.
Face ID should not be a problem at night - light does not affect functionality. As for the glasses, I recommend that you create an alternative look for Face ID in Settings -> Face ID.
