In connection with Apple, there has been talk for a long time about the development of its own 5G chip. Last year's iPhone 12, which was the first Apple phone to receive 5G support, has a hidden chip from competitor Qualcomm. In any case, the Cupertino giant should also work on its own solution. Currently, news from the most respected analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, has reached the Internet, according to which we will not see an iPhone with its own 5G chip in 2023 at the earliest.

Remember how Apple promoted the advent of 5G when introducing the iPhone 12:

Until then, Apple will continue to rely on Qualcomm. However, the subsequent change could significantly affect both parties. The giant from Cupertino would thus gain much better control and get rid of its dependence, while this would be a relatively strong blow for Qualcomm. He would then have to look for other options on the market to compensate for such a loss of income. Sales of competing high-end phones with the Android system and 5G support are not that high. Moreover, this Kuo prediction coincides with an earlier statement by an analyst from Barclays. In March, he informed about the intensive development and subsequently added that the iPhone with its own 5G chip will arrive in 2023.

Apple was supposed to start development in 2020. In any case, the fact that this giant has ambitions in the development of modems for the needs of its iPhones has been known since 2019, when the majority of Intel's modem division was bought out. It was Apple that appropriated it, gaining not only a number of new employees, but also valuable know-how.
