Sometimes it's amazing to see how much an individual can accomplish with enough dedication, talent, and time. Games from individual developers tend to be particularly fascinating in that they are the artistic vision of a single person, rather than the collaborative effort of many different people. A case of such a project is the game novelty Tunic by Andrew Shouldice. He's releasing the game seven years after its initial release, and the years of effort really show in the game.

Tunic follows the story of a fox warrior who one day is washed up on the beach by the sea. You will then have to help him find his way in an unknown world, where many dangers await him in the form of enemies and challenges in the form of many logical puzzles. The game clearly benefits from the tradition of The Legend of Zelda games. The classic beginning of the adventure is complemented by the same variations of the protagonist's movements. Even in Tunic, you will mainly slash with your sword, defend yourself with your shield and make rolls.

An interesting aspect of the game is that it tells you virtually nothing. The game intentionally lacks a tutorial, and you'll have to gather scraps of information from found manual pages or with the help of other players. It is the second method that the developer himself emphasizes. Each player's journey through the game will look different, so Shouldice encourages communities to share information and search for all the secrets of the magical world together.
