Are you planning to buy one of Apple's computers in the near future? In that case, be smart so you don't regret not having waited a month. We have put together a smaller overview of Apple portfolio updates for you.
Although Apple does not have regular dates when it introduces its products (except maybe for the iPhone), a lot can be read from the dates of previous introductions of new products and estimate when we could expect new revisions of iMacs, MacBooks and other Apple computers. If you'd like to see a timeline of all PC releases from 2007-2011, we've prepared it for you here:
iMac
The iMacs are hot candidates for an upgrade, and we could expect their deployment as early as next month. If we average the duration of each series, we arrive at the value 226 days. Today is already 230 days since the last presentation, which took place on July 27, 2010. Everything indicates that we could expect the new iMacs sometime in the second half of April.
The new revision of iMacs should mainly bring Intel processors with the label Sandy Bridge, the same line that beats in the new MacBooks Pro. It should be a quad-core Core i7, maybe only the cheapest 21,5” model could get only 2 cores. Graphics cards will also be new ATI Radeon. The current models do not have any dazzling graphics performance and although it is sufficient for the needs of Mac OS X, it may not be necessary for some of the latest games. Let's hope the iMac gets at least an equivalent ATI Radeon HD 5770 (the price of a separate card is under CZK 3000) or higher.
The new Thunderbolt port, which will gradually reach all Apple computers, is also certain. We can count on the classic 4 GB of RAM, higher models could get even 6 GB. We can almost certainly expect an HD webcam, which appeared in the new MacBooks Pro. The SSD drive in the base is debatable.

Mac Pro
Apple's top line of Mac Pro computers is also slowly ending its cycle, which lasts on average 258 days, with exactly 27 days having passed since the last launch on July 2010, 230. It is very likely that the Mac Pro could be released alongside the iMacs.
For the Mac Pro, we can expect at least a quad-core Intel Xeon, but maybe hexacore will also get into the base. Also the graphics could upgrade, current HD 5770 od ATI is rather a better average these days. For example, one of the dual-core models of graphics cards is offered, as needed Radeon HD 5950.
We can 100% count on the Thunderbolt port, which could appear here in pairs. The RAM could be increased to 6 GB in the base and maybe a bootable SSD disk will appear in the base

Mac mini
Apple's smallest computer, also known as "the most beautiful DVD drive in the world", the Mac mini, is also likely to receive a revision in the near future. At an average cycle length 248 days it has already exceeded this period by less than a month (22 days to be exact) and it will probably be presented together with its bigger brothers iMac and Mac Pro.
The equipment of the new revision of the Mac mini should be similar to the 13” MacBook Pro, just as it was in the past. If that were the case this year as well, the computer would get a dual-core processor Intel Core i5, integrated graphics card Intel HD 3000 and the Thunderbolt interface. However, the graphics card is debatable and maybe Apple will decide to improve the graphics performance with a dedicated card (I wish). The value of RAM could also increase from the current 2 GB to 4 GB with a frequency of 1333 Mhz.

MacBook Pro
We received the new MacBooks two weeks ago, so the situation is clear. I will only add that the average cycle lasts 215 days and we could expect a new revision before Christmas.
Last 4 performances:
- October 14, 2008
- 27. May 2009

MacBook white
The lowest line of MacBooks in white plastic form, on the other hand, is awaiting revision as if it were mercy. However, the question is whether it is rather waiting for Godot. It has been speculated for some time that Apple will completely cancel the white MacBook. The average cycle of this laptop is 195 days while the last one lasts for 18 days from May 2010, 300.
If the new white MacBook actually appears, it will probably have similar parameters to the new 13” MacBook Pro, i.e. a dual-core processor Intel Core i5, integrated graphics card Intel HD 3000, 4 GB RAM at a frequency of 1333 Mhz, HD webcam and Thunderbolt.

MacBook Air
The "airy" line of MacBooks has become a kind of elite among Apple notebooks, which the Cupertino company will try to push through as much as possible. Although the new revision of the Airs has only been basking in the sun for 20 days since October 2010, 145, there are rumors that the upgrade should arrive before the summer holidays, probably in late May or early June. At the same time, your average cycle 336 days.
A lot is expected from the New MacBook Air, especially in terms of performance, which should be guaranteed by the processors Sandy Bridge. It will probably be a series Core i5 with two cores with a frequency below 2 Ghz. Due to consumption, Apple will probably use Intel's integrated graphics solution HD 3000, which we find in the 13” MacBook Pro.
Certain factors are the HD webcam and the Thunderbolt interface. It could increase the storage, where the current maximum capacity is 256 GB. This could be doubled in the new generation. A backlit keyboard, like the Pro series, is also a big wish of users. We'll see if Apple complies with these wishes.

i7 for Mac Pro??? I doubt it, apple always pushed "the best of best", server class components, i.e. XEON, into MP. of course he paid for it properly. the highest iMac has and will have enough performance to cover the segment of the most demanding casual users. Mpro is and was for the elite and there is no reason for Apple to push it for the middle class. on the contrary, after the last upgrade, he offered an even higher model.
The i7 sandy bridge has enough performance, but I wish the flagship had the same processor as MBpro or iMac, that's below dignity, I'll put it there sooner and wait for the new line of xeons. just like with the last upgrade, they waited and dragged it out just to wait and have the exclusivity of having "the fastest processor on the market"
Yes, you're right, my mistake, I completely forgot about the Xeon series that the current generation has as well. I edited the article. I just hope that "the best of the best" components will also apply to graphics cards, on which Apple, for incomprehensible reasons, saves for me. Radeon HD 5770 was not high-end even a year ago.
it's true, the graphics of the basic Mpro are poor, which paradoxically replaces the highest iMac, which nowadays many people choose over the Mpro. It's a paradox, because Apple is probably focusing on graphics mainly to lower the price towards PC workstations, which may be justified for the lowest model (for someone who doesn't need graphics but a processor, e.g. rendering).
but apple does it on purpose, Mpro is so expensive that if apple paid respect for every thing that is a matter of course with iMac, then the price is higher by 2000 dollars / euros. from a marketing point of view, the Mac pro is about the processor, I "pump" it there and leave the rest so that it is not said. and if the customer wants more, he can pay extra for a different card or a better one. it is 250 dollars, which is not so reasonable at that price, but psychologically it is already "almost 3000", which is very much for the basic model and clearly replaces the iMac option for 2000 dollars. this is how apple puts a person in the head of the bug "I have a display, I will buy a keyboard and for 500 dollars more I already have a PRO, i.e. the best of the best". In my opinion, apple marketing is perfect and knows exactly why they put the graphics they do. And in the USA and Western Europe it probably still works, of course the situation is very different in our parts and the iMac is already a very expensive thing. PRO is really only chosen by people who need a powerful and stable workstation and do not need to upgrade every year, but maybe even once every 5 years (music studies...),
in other words, they are more concerned with minimal performance degradation and reliability without the need for a restart than with a constant upgrade
Otherwise, a good article, a nice summary of the data and a very useful thing for someone who wants to switch to a Mac and is not yet familiar with Apple's update cycles (me a year ago). this way, with a certain deviation, I can plan to buy an iMac in two years and estimate how much more powerful it will be

This link is provided at the end of the article as a source of statistical data
It can be seen that you have never worked with a MacBook. Mere parameters do not make a laptop. The quality of processing in this case is heaven and bagpipes. Acer computers have never been one of the well-made notebooks. As for endurance, 7 hours for the MacBook Pro is guaranteed, you will never see the paper 10+ hours for the timeline series in practice. Apple computers are and quality, design and exclusivity, but if instead you can make do with an average multimedia laptop that chases some paper parameters and in which your battery will die within six months, as is the case with similar laptops (i.e. at a time when the battery warranty expires), against taste...
The last time I bought a Ferrari 5 from Acer was about 3400 years ago (it cost about 60.000).
The hard drive died after a year, the battery died after a year and a half. I have not experienced more heating than on its processor. I now have a 3,5-year-old MacBook Pro, a 2-year-old iMac 20″ and, since Christmas, an Air 13″, and I don’t allow woks into the house. I don't understand how I could work with winama. I use MacBook daily, original installation, only updates. And linking here to some social computer model is not kosher.
Before you start cursing someone's sheep and other animals, think about why people buy Apple computers, even if they are slightly more expensive than other laptops with similar equipment. It will also be a bit about user experience, not just paper parameters. Honestly, I'd rather be a sheep than an ox.
I agree, Apple computers are beautiful and well made, but I wouldn't go overboard with absolute quality. I had two iBooks, a PowerBook G4, now an iMac and a MacBook. In the course of a year, they all sent me a hard drive for the iMac and a DVD drive. Fortunately, the warranty always takes care of it, but it can still suck. I don't know how the latest iMac models are doing, but my 2008 keeps getting dust inside the cover glass. That's right, there's something everywhere.
I can directly compare
also:
acer: the HDD went away twice, the display mount was broken (which is a common thing with acers, I saw it with my own eyes about 4 times), I also had to wait 5 weeks for the service. difficult, I would sum it up: the smallest desktop
apple: the HDD hasn't died yet, it overheats about 2x less, the aluminum unibody is almost indestructible (yes, the bottom cover bends in some places, but that's how almost everything bends on the acer), service worldwide in every city. I waited 2 weeks and that's only because they had to replace my keyboard in Belgium, Germany (!!).
we add to that a regular update of OSX, which also means drivers (unthinkable for Acer), the famous glass multi-touch trackpad and the best, backlit keyboard on the market and various small but incredibly helpful little things: air intake so that even if a person has it on the duvet, you won't "suffocate" immediately, mag safe connector, apple remote compatible with dock and apple TV...
I don't want to elaborate further so that it doesn't turn into apple vs. PC, because it's MB vs. Acer, because I'm aware that there are high-quality PC notebooks on the market, the price of which is already comparable to Apple. and that is probably the biggest argument that apple does not only respect the brand, simply that a high-quality machine, whether you like it or not, can only be made by a large and established company (IBM/lenovo, sony, apple), which has sufficient experience and a large background, not only financially but mainly know-how for the development and production of real computers, not just components in a Chinese shell. and then it is logical that all these costs are included in the price of the product. Acer is and will be a low-cost thing, they know how to put inflated components there, but that's about it. a person is incredibly happy when he has it new on the table, it is still fresh and fragrant and he is happy to have done the job at what price. but then two years pass and a person has to invest so much in that machine that it surpasses the price of a higher quality one.
it's not easy to make a laptop, with a desktop, the puzzle can be tolerated and if you're lucky, nothing might happen to it even for 3 years. But the laptop is constantly in motion, it is physically strained, it is strained by temperature changes, cooling is extremely difficult, and every shock means the potential destruction of the HDD, and high-quality imaging also costs something.
of course, Apple also breaks down, but as I say, nothing is simpler than Apple's service. ok, when did you see an acer branch?
what about the processor? Pentium Dual-Core P6100... That's the competition for Core i5? No way. And anyway, it's almost entirely made of plastic, and it will fall apart in no time. The price of macbooks is absolutely appropriate for the equipment and quality of workmanship. You didn't convince ;-)
The new MacBook Pros have the latest Intel Core i5 and i7 Sandy Bridge processors, not counting the white MacBook. Otherwise, if you want to convince yourself of the features of the MacBook Pro, I recommend reading this article of ours: http://bit.ly/g55Ip6
No one is forcing Apple on you here, so don't force Acer here. You can say what you want here, everyone knows how it is with Acer and how it is with Apple.. If you used it, you might understand... Furthermore, the software for Apple has less hardware requirements than for Windows... I don't know why arguing about something you've apparently never used…
Aaaand the donkey is here. Unlike you, I have experience with both Acer and Apple. First of all, it's about priorities. Acer hums, it's a piece of plastic and it's not the most powerful one either. In my area, 4 friends currently have a timeline, and all of them received the battery within a year (replaced under warranty), and after two years, I have 93%.
After summarizing. The flashlight is gone, the sasi is gone, I don't want the wine anymore. It's worth paying extra. it is not possible to resolve that the disk, drive or other hardware that the mac has in common with the others will fail.
But the baby was sent not because of life (it had pool capacity), but something else was sent there. It wore on her and didn't recharge.
Acer :D:D:D:D
Funny guy…
prej Acer laptop hehe it's woouuuuul :D
Author: u air will have sandy bridge.. In 11″ i5-2537M(or i7-2617M), i7-2657M. And in 13″ i7-2629M, i7-2649M.
There is nothing else to choose from with a consumption of 17-25tdp. Frequency 1,4, (1,5), 1,6… 2,1, 2,3 .
Personally, I'm waiting for them and I'm hoping for 4GB of RAM as well
Thank you for the useful information.
I don't believe that they wouldn't upgrade MBPro with the arrival of Lion - so I'm waiting for the autumn to upgrade.
This looks better: http://www.czechcomputer.cz/product.jsp?artno=84943
HP are known as the most malfunctioning laptops on the market, this is evident from the service statistics. If it's a non-Apple laptop, then I'd recommend a Sony Vaio, a Toshiba (but no multimedia model under 20), an IBM or an Alienware (which, however, far exceeds the price of MacBooks).
Unfortunately, I have been the owner of a MacBook Pro for two months. Now I'm trying to get Linux Ubuntu on it, or I'm considering replacing it with a normal laptop, but somehow I can't choose. Either the laptop looks absolutely awful or it's a total dig. With OS X, I had problems with stability, I missed open source (and generally few applications), and somehow I didn't get used to the controls.
If the system crashes, the computer unexpectedly restarts, etc., the problem may be in a defective part. I recommend immediately claim.
You can install any operating system using the program Boot Camp.
Few apps? It depends on what program and where you are looking. At random: http://www.macupdate.com, cnet.com/mac open source sourceforge.jp, sourceforge.net or http://www.opensourcemac.org...
so I bought a custom iMac 27″ i7 2,93 a week ago for nothing? and I hated him for about a month :(
the most I have is that they will give me some much better graphics and some cheaper i5 will be more powerful than my i7
Please, does anyone know more precise dates when the new macbook pro can be bought in the Czech Republic?
