Patrik Pajer Serious Sam is now a legendary series of first-person shooters, famous for its emphasis on straightforward action. It has continued in this spirit for over twenty years, and its main series already has four parts, but only one of them was transferred to macOS. The third volume, subtitled BFE (Before First Encounter), takes you to the very beginning of the story of the titular Serious Sam.

Like the previous installments, Serious Sam 3: BFE has its own gameplay formula that gradually throws you into open environments where you face waves of increasingly powerful alien monsters. Unlike most similar shooters, the game does not include any cover system. According to the developers from the Croteam studio, obviously the best defense is a decisive attack. What is dead can no longer harm you. And that you'll be handing out death by the handful in the game. These will mostly be full of bullets and rockets from a large arsenal of original weapons.
However, if you get up close to enemies, the game lets you maul them the good old fashioned way without firearms. The brutality of the final attacks cannot be compared to, for example, the famous animations from the God of War series. And if you're not sure you'll feel safe among the hordes of aliens, you can bring a second player with you in co-op mode.
