AirTag has been with us for over a year now, and it's true that we might have expected a bit more from this somewhat revolutionary Apple device. To be more precise, not directly from him, but from the integration of the Find platform by third-party manufacturers. We have a couple of bicycles and one backpack here, but that's about it. However, now a really interesting novelty has been presented by the company Muc-Off.

Apple already announced support for Chipolo and its smart tags, and VanMoof bicycles when introducing the extension of the Find platform. There have been a few interesting pieces since then, but usually as quickly as they came, they went away. Moreover, there were no original solutions. However, Muc-Off, the English manufacturer of bicycle accessories, has created a holder for the AirTag that you hide directly between the tire and the bicycle rim.

Invisible and durable construction

Holder Muc Off The Tubeless Tag Holder allows Apple's tracking device to be discreetly installed in a tubeless bike tire in conjunction with the company's tubeless valves (Presta 44-60mm), allowing you to track and locate your bike using the Find It app if it's stolen. The best part, of course, is that the AirTag is not visible, as in most other solutions, so a thief will not think to look for it and dismantle it.

This is the difference from the direct integration of the platform into the bike, as is the case with VanMoof. So you still have to use your AirTag here. This is hidden under a silicone holder between the casing and the rim, while it is fixed in such a way that it does not rattle inside. At the same time, the construction is designed to withstand shocks, while meeting IP67 water resistance.

Of course, this solution also has its downside. The battery life of the AirTag is approximately one year, so this means that every year you will need to remove the tire from the bike to replace the battery. However, it is true that in this case it is a solution that their owners will rather use with more expensive bikes, so when they are garaged over the winter season it usually means draining and servicing them anyway, so it shouldn't be such a problem.

The price is set at EUR 19,99, i.e. approx. 500 CZK, you must have your own AirTag. Of course, it won't be a mass success, but it's really interesting to see what different companies can come up with. At the same time, Muc-Off specializes primarily in cleaning products and clothing for all cyclists, motorcyclists and ebike riders. Of course, even the top ones.
