It doesn't matter what Apple's plans are if game developers don't share it with them. It's been a year since we hoped iPhones would see true AAA games. It's been a quarter of a year since things looked promising. But does it make sense to keep hoping?

The iPhone looks like an ideal gaming console. If it lacks hardware buttons, they can be easily replaced with a controller for a few hundred crowns. They are not limited by the performance of the device and can handle real graphic orgies if they had to, in which titles to do so. iPhone 15 Pro also has ray tracing, so the visual experience should be at the level of classic adult consoles. What about the fact that competing chips are also capable of ray tracing, after several generations. If there is no content for it, the technology is nice, engaging, but useless because nothing uses it.

Resident Evil Village will not save the world

The first and only game that can really trouble the A17 Pro chip is the Resident Evil port, subtitled Village. We are still waiting for more wannabes. Rainbow Six Mobile was supposed to be released at the end of last year, but now its release has been pushed back to September 2024, so it will be released with the new iPhones 16. But why? That there would be a problem in performance optimization?

Warframe Mobile should arrive on February 20th, The Division Resurgence will hopefully be released at the end of the first quarter of the year, on March 31st. But everything is rather postponed, moved and moved and nothing really comes out. It will be interesting to see if it will be successful at least for Death Stranding, which is due to be released shortly, i.e. on January 31. But do we believe that it will actually come out? And what else? Nothing further. Is that enough for us? Not enough. Apple Arcade doesn't save mobile gaming either, although it might be perfect for the Apple Vision Pro, for example.

So if we thought the iPhone 15 Pro was going to revolutionize mobile gaming, it certainly isn't. Just look at the first ranks of free and paid games, where there are rather simple games (Block Blast!, Subway Surfers, Pou, Geometry Dash). It's as if iPhone owners themselves don't even want adult games.
