Squares have always been inherent to Instagram. Photos could not be uploaded to this popular social network in a format other than square. But the established order is now being broken - Instagram he announced, that it opens its network to photos in any format, portrait or landscape.

Some might say it was only a matter of time anyway. The squares symbolized Instagram and made it unique in its own way, but for many photographers, the 1:1 aspect ratio was limiting. Photos were often uploaded in different proportions, fitted into a square, i.e. with annoying white edges. According to Instagram, every fifth picture was not square.

Therefore, in the latest Instagram 7.5, a new button appears when uploading a photo, thanks to which you can adjust the orientation of the image. Then once you upload it, it will be displayed as it should be - portrait or landscape, without unnecessary borders.

In Instagram, the new option promises improvements not only for photos, but also for videos "which can be more cinematic than ever in widescreen format." Also new is the possibility to use all filters on any photo or video, where the intensity of the filter can also be regulated.
