Apple officially introduced the new Beats Studio Buds+. This is an improved version of the first generation of these TWS earphones that was launched two years ago, which includes improved active noise cancellation and pass-through mode, longer battery life and stands out above all for its design.

Appearance

Yes, perhaps the most interesting thing is the appearance of the headphones, that is, in the case of their transparent variant, which of course directly steals the design that Nothing came up with. Apart from this version, black/gold and ivory are also available. But maybe because Beats is part of Apple, it had to do things a little differently to differentiate itself from the parent brand. TWS AirPods are only available in white with their characteristic stem, which is therefore completely missing here. You can find the Beats Studio Buds+ button next to its logo, AirPods have sensory control on the stem. The weight of one earphone is 5 g, in the case of AirPods Pro 2 it is 5,3 g.

Compatibility and functionality

AirPods Pro 2 have been built to fit seamlessly into Apple's product ecosystem. So the H1 chip in their guts means that once you pair them with your iPhone, they'll automatically pair with any other Apple device signed into the same iCloud account. On the other hand, the Beats Studio Buds+ are compatible with Google's Fast Pair technology, so you get simple one-touch pairing and connection with Android devices, which the AirPods don't offer.

It also means the headphones are registered to your Google Account, so if you sign in on another Android device or Chromebook, it'll recognize when your Beats Studio Buds+ are nearby, pop up and help you connect to them. They also appear in Find My Device for finding lost devices.

This level of integration is of course also compatible with iOS. You get one-touch pairing on iPhone too, iCloud pairing, Finder support, and all the controls for noise cancellation and transparency modes right in Control Center. But several other features work in favor of the AirPods Pro 2: ear detection, surround sound with head tracking, and wireless charging. Taking the AirPods out of your ear pauses the music, which Beats doesn't.

Battery

As for the battery life, it is not dizzying for either product. Both provide around 6 hours of playback with ANC on, but you'll get more listening overall with the Beats Studio Buds+. Their charging case gives another 36 hours of listening time, 30 hours for AirPods. Both the new Beats and AirPods Pro 2 are waterproof according to IPX4.

Price

According to foreign editors, the AirPods Pro 2 offer a better overall performance with more sound details, which is due to the typical Beats over-bass, but the reproduction is also a lot of subjective impressions, where everyone likes something different. Ear detection, allegedly slightly better noise reduction and wireless charging are the main advantages of AirPods. In contrast, Beats Studio Buds+ score points for price, longer durability and full compatibility with Android products. You will pay 4 CZK for them, while you will pay 790 CZK for the 2nd generation AirPods Pro.
