It's been a few months back since Apple introduced the brand new iPhone 12 and 12 Pro. Apple advocates have been calling for a compact and tiny phone for a long time - according to their ideals, it should have been an iPhone 5s with a full-screen display and Face ID. Something unprecedented happened with the latest iPhones at the same time - Apple really listened to these requests and introduced the iPhone 12 mini. The 12 mini was expected to be an absolute blockbuster, thanks in part to the success of the iPhone SE (2020), which continues to be very popular. Unfortunately, it turned out that the iPhone 12 is the mini model, which is the least popular.
Sales of new iPhones 12
To put it simply, sales of the iPhone 12 mini are so weak that Apple might even cancel the production of this model soon. According to available surveys from Counterpoint, it turned out that of all Apple phones sold in January, the iPhone 12 mini accounted for only 5%. Another analyst company, Wave7, even reports that the iPhone 12 mini is the least popular device in the last three years. The unpopularity of the iPhone 12 mini is further confirmed by CIRP - it claims that iPhone 12 was the most sold in January, namely 27% of all. 20% of sales were then cut by the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. According to the available data, the iPhone 12 mini lags behind with only 6%. Who are we going to lie to, probably none of us would make a product that no one wants. According to analyst William Yang, due to unpopularity, Apple should even decide to completely stop production of the smallest device in recent years in the second half of this year.
But this certainly does not mean that you cannot buy an iPhone 2021 mini in the second half of 12. According to available information, Apple has a large number of these devices in stock, and therefore there is no need to manufacture more. Due to the low demand, these pieces will sit here for a longer period of time and will disappear much more slowly. In addition, users are buying less and less new Apple phones - an iPhone, if you buy it as the latest device, should last you up to 5 years. This means that if you own an iPhone 7, you should be thinking about buying a new model. If you do, the next one should last you another 5 years.
Why is the iPhone 12 mini unpopular?
And why is that? In general, the more you look east, the more people are interested in a small phone. However, we can't consider the eastern market power to be goddamn huge, so the sales are simply small and not that significant. In the Czech Republic, for example, the iPhone 12 mini is relatively popular, but it is necessary to take into account the size of the Czech Republic compared to the West, i.e. to the USA, for example. Towards the west, where the market power and demand is several times greater, customers are, on the contrary, interested in phones with a larger display.
At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the current coronavirus situation. People who sit at home most of the time don't want to use a small phone with a small screen for gaming and watching shows, for example - that's why larger iPhones are more popular. If the situation were not as it is right now, it can be assumed that the iPhone 12 mini would be a little more popular. Even so, the sales would not be very high. In addition to this, current users of the iPhone 12 mini also complain about the short battery life - if Apple made the 12 mini a bit thicker and solved a bigger battery, it could reach some bigger numbers in the sales of this model.
Everything is just a matter of price!!!
(I personally bought it because its size suits me and it replaced the expiring iP 5S...)
I have bought it. I was waiting for Apple to release something and switched from SE 1. It suits in all respects. It would be a shame if we lost the opportunity to buy small but powerful iPhones.
that price…
Exactly. Price! Price! Price! I took it to my wife as a Christmas present and precisely because of the size - if it cost €600, I wouldn't have time to make it, but €849 for the 128GB version is enough
The price is the same as for the 12. The iPhone 12 is meant to escape due to its dimensions. It is bought by people who know exactly why. Most people compromise in the form of 12 or 12 pro.
The price is not the same as the 12. The Mini is 3 thousand cheaper and that is a significant difference. Personally, I don't understand why anyone buys a 12 when they can save 3 grand and buy a functionally identical mini that also fits so nicely in the hand.
I bet he won't quit. That's not what Apple does. If he evaluates that the product is not as successful as he expected, he will not have a follower. Nothing more
