We saw the presentation of AirTags localization tags, the new generation of Apple TV, the completely redesigned iMac and, last but not least, the improved iPad Pro. It came with many interesting improvements, including the M chip – which is also used in the latest Macs, among other things – an improved display, high-speed 5G connectivity or a Thunderbolt 3 connector. This premium product has left customers with mostly positive impressions, but many pause over the price of the most expensive model . If you set the most advanced parameters in the configurator, you will reach the astronomical sum of 65 crowns, and that's not even counting the keyboard, Apple Pencil and other accessories that you will (most likely) have to buy. Is this price at all defensible and is it a move on the part of Apple, or can this step be justified?

But let's break everything down step by step. The Californian company has always equipped its tablets with chips that were already ready for iPhones. Now, however, a processor is used here, with which Apple took the breath away even of computer owners a few months ago. The increase in performance is therefore striking. The same can be said about the battery life on one charge – the need to search for a source of electrical energy during the working day practically disappears thanks to this.
After choosing the highest model, you will get a 12,9″ tablet with 2 TB of storage, which, given the relatively small volume of iPadOS applications, is a very comfortable cushion for storing excessive amounts of data. With the most expensive model, you'll also enjoy LTE and 5G connectivity, which no MacBook, let alone Mac desktops, has yet. The high-speed Thunderbolt 3 port, on the other hand, allows you to connect almost all modern accessories and ensures the speedy transfer of even the largest files. 16 GB of operating memory will also come in handy when editing video, which in any case is only boasted by models with an internal storage capacity of 1 TB and 2 TB. Last but not least, you will be looking at a display with a mini-LED backlight, which will be especially appreciated by users who actively work with photos and videos. And yes, the multimedia content brings us to the reason why I think this astronomical amount for a tablet is adequate.

Not a creative or multimedia professional? Then this tablet is not for you
Apple tablets have historically been considered products intended for content consumption or for simpler office work. Only after some time did Apple respond to customer needs by introducing a professional sibling. If we now look at the basic iPad (8th generation), you can get it with a price tag below CZK 10. It is true that it only supports the older Apple Pencil, the Smart Keyboard of the 000st generation, you will find a Lightning connector on the body and peripherals are connected to it in a rather complicated way, but if you only want to consume content, handle correspondence, write notes for school, edit some that video or play a few games, the tablet is more than enough for that thanks to the A1 Bionic processor.

The iPad Air has its place for more demanding, but still quite ordinary users. The USB-C connector ensures variability in the area of connectivity of accessories, the A14 chip, which beats in the latest iPhones, is also sufficient for editing photos in multiple layers, creating with the Apple Pencil or rendering 4K videos. In addition, you can connect almost anything to the iPad Air that you would buy even for its much more expensive little brother. Even the price of this machine is acceptable, even after buying the most expensive model with a capacity of 256 GB and with a mobile connection, it will not exceed 30000 CZK.
However, I certainly do not want to say that the iPad Pro is useless in the top configuration. Be aware that in terms of performance, display and ports, Apple has made a huge leap forward and has not manipulated the price in any way in the basic versions. If you are one of the professionals who need to edit several dozen photos a day, often edit 4K video, compose music or compile professional drawings, then it is crucial for you that the device does not hold you back either in terms of performance or storage capacity.
