Application Log book it arose out of a purely practical need, which is familiar to all entrepreneurs and employees who drive a company car. The accounting regulations in this country define that every kilometer driven by a car that we want or have to expense must be well documented. This presupposes, among other things, the recording of departure, arrival, purpose of the trip. In the offline world, there are pre-printed forms for this that the driver should fill out before driving. However, the reality is that at the end of the accounting period, one is lying in a pile of receipts, trying to reconstruct where, when and why he drove, looking for the number of kilometers on the map, and despairing when it does not work out in the final total.

Apparently the author of the application got tired of this martyrdom and found that in the age of navigation and smart phones there is no reason to bother writing out "travelers", let alone reverse travel in the depths of memory even a year ago. His Driving Book is an optimal helper that will solve several problems for you.

The application prompts you to fill in the vehicle, fuel type and consumption data after the first launch. These are the decisive parameters for the calculation of the compensation price per kilometer driven, which is an accounting decisive item. For future data export, identification data of the person and company to which the vehicle belongs can also be entered.

The Trip Book home screen contains mileage and expenses for the last month and year. There is also a large button to start a new ride and a smaller button to go to the history of recordings. Ingeniously simple and especially useful in work stress is the solution of starting a new ride. You don't need anything except the Start Driving button. The application fills in the address of the place of departure, notes the time and starts measuring and calculating. When you reach the place, you press the button "End drive - arrival" and it's done. The driving screen will be expanded with the option to fill in the purpose of the trip, which is automatically saved in memory and you just select it in the purpose menu next time. It is also good to choose whether it is a private or business trip, then you can just "Confirm and save".

The "Ridebook" screen has four tabs that filter your rides by date. You can choose to view a specific day, week, calendar month, or all rides. Each of the filters has a drop-down menu where you can specify which time period you are interested in. You can open and edit or delete each entry from the trip list separately. It's especially useful when you forget to end active riding and then do 39 kilometers on a five-kilometer stretch, as happened to me during testing.

The amount of compensation per kilometer traveled is calculated from the rates determined by the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic, always set for a year in advance. The amount for fuel and depreciation can be seen in the CSV export, which you can send by e-mail or open the dedicated application in iOS. The rates should be updated with the update of the Book of Trips whenever a new decree of the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic is issued, thus ensuring you a reliable source of data for your accounting.

The graphic processing of the application is extremely simple, pleasant and completely intuitive. A minor exception is reports, where it is not clear at first glance what time period you are looking at (or rather, what logic you used to arrive at it). A small reservation also belongs to the editing of the driving detail. In particular, the menu of preset purposes is more complicated if you want to change something in it. However, with a little effort, it is not a problem. The logbook is an exceptionally good helper. Since it is a native application, it is fast, does not lag, does not wait for anything. He just "eats" a little too much. It was able to drain about a third of the energy from my battery in half a day. However, it is a GPS tracker that always presents higher demands. And it's still not as bad as the legendary Moves.

In the future, it would definitely be possible to expand, for example, the possibility to record refueling. According to information from the author of the application, we will see something similar in the near future. For non-entrepreneurs, it might be interesting to monitor the real consumption according to kilometers traveled and fuel filled, without amortization being reflected in the price. Nevertheless, this hobby project, which was created to solve one person's worries, is already more than an interesting choice for everyone who drives a car and wants to keep track of their expenses.
