When Apple introduced the updated MacBook Pro in 2016, many people resented the switch to a new type of keyboard. Some were not satisfied with the operation of the buttons, others complained about its noise, or clicking while typing. Shortly after the introduction, another problem appeared, this time related to the durability of the keyboard, or resistance to impurities. As it turned out relatively quickly, various impurities often cause keyboards in new Macs to stop working. This problem is caused, among other things, by the fact that the new keyboards are significantly less reliable than those in previous models.
The foreign server Appleinsider prepared an analysis in which it drew on the service records of new Macs, always one year after their introduction. This is how he looked at MacBooks released in 2014, 2015 and 2016, with a look at the 2017 models as well. The results are clearly telling - the transition to a new type of keyboard significantly reduced its reliability.
The malfunction rate of the new MacBook Pro 2016+ keyboard is in some cases more than twice as high as in the case of previous models. The number of first complaints rose (by about 60%), as did the following second and third complaints of the same devices. It is therefore clear from the data that this is a fairly widespread problem, which is also often repeated in 'repaired' devices.
The problem with the new keyboard is that it is extremely sensitive to any dirt that could get into the keybeds. This then causes the entire mechanism to malfunction and the keys get stuck or do not register the press at all. The repair is then very problematic.
Due to the mechanism used, the keys (and their functional mechanism) are quite fragile, at the same time they are also relatively expensive. Currently, the price for one replacement key is around 13 dollars (250-300 crowns) and replacement as such is very difficult. If the entire keyboard needs to be replaced, it is a much more serious problem that is caused by the design of the entire machine.
When replacing the keyboard, the entire upper part of the chassis must also be replaced with everything attached to it. In this case, it is the entire battery, the Thunderbolt interface on one side of the laptop and other accompanying components from the internal part of the device. In the US, the out-of-warranty repair costs about $700, which is a really high amount, exceeding a third of the purchase price of a new piece. So if you have one of the newer MacBooks, register a keyboard problem and your computer is still under warranty, we recommend you take action. Post-warranty repair will be very expensive.

The old keyboards weren't worth much either, I've already had one replaced in the Air.
Apple simply added a warranty period to the system - lifetime?♂️ It is necessary to get more money out of the costs. The jack is removed from the phone, so you have to buy more expensive BT headphones. If it's a little pressure on the saw, because they dare to use the included reducer, it's taken out of the package. And at least some of those dollars are bought for her. Are we going to force them to shave?
So it looks like I won't even buy a new computer? ♂️ For two years of use, some carp will be enough.
It is best to buy the smallest 12″ model, the one with butterfly v1, the others butterfly v2, which are not well made. Or get a sale 2015 model in good condition and install an SSD with maximum capacity.
"In this case it's the whole battery, the Thunderbolt interface..."
Check your information better. The Thunderbolt connector or as you write the "interface" is NOT firmly seated on the Top Case of the machine. It is simply unscrewed and transferred to the new Top Case/chassis.
