SwiftKey, a popular third-party app, is already on its way to iOS and will land in users' hands on the same day that iOS 8 is released, on September 17th. If you don't know SwiftKey, it is an innovative keyboard combining two important functions – typing by dragging your finger across the keyboard and predictive typing. Based on the movement, the software recognizes which letters you probably wanted to write and, in conjunction with a comprehensive dictionary, selects the most likely word, or several options. Predictive word suggestions will allow you to insert words with one tap according to what you are typing, because SwiftKey can work with syntax and can learn from the user. It therefore uses its own cloud service, in which data about your writing (not the content of the text) is stored.

The iOS version will include both of the aforementioned writing components, but initial language support will be limited. While the Android version will allow you to write in dozens of languages, including Czech and Slovak, on iOS on September 17th we will see only English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian. Over time, of course, the languages will be added, and we will also see Czech and Slovak, but we will probably have to wait a few more months.

SwiftKey will be released for both iPhone and iPad, but Flow's stroke typing feature will initially only be available for iPhone and iPod touch. The price of the app has not yet been published, but the Android version is currently free. Before the app is released, you can enjoy a promo video narrated by the famous British actor Stephen Fry.
